Asking For a Little Help Guys...
Hey all,
As many of you know, my little boy has Autism. He's a brilliant little guy and his teachers tell me that with the way he's been progressing, and all of the extra help he's received, he will likely be one of the very lucky ones that won't really have too many obstacles later in his childhood. Hunter was diagnosed a couple years ago and his mom and I, (and some close friends of mine) have really been very proactive. We've made sure he's always had whatever he's needed and that's included the best teachers our schools have to offer. Well, later this month we're participating in the puzzle walk and I've been collecting donations via their website under Hunter's name. So far, (just in 24 hours) I've already collected 300. My goal is 500 but I'd like to beat that as well. If you can spare anything or even just spread the word, I'd really appreciate it. Here is the link to my son's page. All donations are deductible and it really goes to a great cause. Thanks guys! Anything you can do is much appreciated. @ you ****s.
To answer.... You can give donations for this event, (the puzzle walk) thru the 26th. And someone donated like 24.99 or something. They're smart-asses but I'm happy to take it. |

God, look at that guys. Almost 3 times my goal.
Almost all from CP. I started out the day at roughly 300 bucks and you all have just kicked ass. I really appreciate it. I've tried to send you all a message and some rep. I'll eventually get caught up. Thank you all again. |

First off... Autistic kids aren't usually affectionate but Hunter is different. Whenever I get home or pick him up at school, he gets so excited. He runs as fast as he can and yells "DADDY!" It always makes me smile, no matter my stress level. He and I have always had a different, special bond. I can read him better than anyone. A few examples of his intelligence... He absolutely loves messing around on my iPad. I make a point of changing the access codes every few weeks. (6 digit) I only have to tell him once, he can not play with it for a week and remember the code. He has a photographic memory with numbers. The kid could read and write before he was two years old. First with basic words and then, suddenly three syllable words. His handwriting is great. Almost perfect when he concentrates. He can math like a mofo too. Addition and subtraction at a 2nd grade level. He's only five. His only obstacle is speech. However, he improves more and more each day. I handed him his chocolate milk today when we got home and he said, "Thank you daddy, I love you!" That was it for me... Done. That's the first real complex sentence he's put together without prompting. What a great day for him and I. |

I've said this before too but his school is just awesome. All the kids there just love him. They all hug and hi-5 him every day. He has friends of all Ages. The girls, in particular hang all over him. "He's so cute!" Etc.
He's gonna be a brilliant little heartbreaker. |

It's stories like these that make me think about working with kids instead of the oldie moldies in my professional. My friend from school runs different Autism speech treatment groups in schools around the valley here. She loves it and really gets a kick out of the funny things the kids say. My wife's brother has Autism and does not show affection. Never has and never will. It's hard as a parent when it's like that. However he's extremely intelligent and loves sports. He's a college graduate even. If I've got a question about something that's happened, he's got the memory to recall it. It's like a sports encyclopedia in his brain! I'll donate tomorrow but my wallet is in my car and I'm too lazy to get it right now. Love hearing the stories. |

Hey guys,
Wanted to bump this... Just in case ppl on the weekends/night crew didn't see it. Please see the OP and do whatever you can. And to all the great guys who helped out, thank you again. The amount I raised was just amazing. I can't thank you enough. To sweeten the deal, I do believe I'm going to receive some free tix to the Omaha Storm Chasers, (aka O-Royals) game for the huge donation amounts. I will gladly take whoever can show up to a game and make sure beer is free. Thanks again guys!!! |

DanT, thank you so much for your donation today.
That was very generous. We're gonna hit 2k, (twice the goal for the entire group, let alone just for Hunter). You guys are great. |
