TV is almost unwatchable with all these bullshit political ads.

That's from a settlement to avoid court costs, not a court ruling. Total settlement, covering 2002-2014, was just a $13 million price tag. In other words, it was just a shakedown.

The lawsuit was filed by customers who argued they were misled about the product's benefits, including the phrase, "Red Bull gives you wings."

I'm going to guess that the lawsuit hinged on some of the other claims about product benefits and not that people were tricked into thinking that Red Bull would make you actually grow wings.

I skimmed one of the actual complaints. It was based on claims that the drink gives increased energy and performance, and that it does so better than coffee or a caffeine pill, which Red Bull apparently claimed in various marketing materials.

It wasn't literally over whether it actually gives you wings.

I will tell you this. Being in advertising that regular advertising is one of the most regulated industries, but political advertising is not. I'd read about some outrageous things being done such as people calling in when there were pay phones filling it with quarters to call into a program making it look like real people were calling or supporting the person. That sort of thing can be stopped. It is fraud. Politicians just don't want to outlaw such actions. They make themselves exempt from many other laws even while in office too.
