Kasey Kahne looked like complete crap as usual... I really wish that Chase Elliott had taken over that 5 car.

I DVR'd the race, and just got done watching it. Looks like Toyota has the power everybody else wishes, and HMS needs to work on grip/down force.
But here was part of my most awesome day. So fun... . Woot.

Such a memorable day – I can only imagine. Did you get a chance to see Florida Georgia Line country band sing Anything Goes during the pre-race show? According to NASCAR.com website, the band is breaking the record for longest #1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs, selling over 21 million tracks worldwide. Great show. Here is one of the songs the band performed at the Daytona 500:

It wasn't Dale's fault. He was struggling with the car all day. I would blame the set-up. Dale is amazing on that track.
Dale's post-race press conference: DALE EARNHARDT, JR., NO. 88 NATIONWIDE CHEVROLET SS - Sidelined by an accident on lap 170 ON WHAT HAPPENED: "I got loose and just busted my tail. It was time to go. We were making some moves on the outside and moving forward and passing some guys. Just got loose trying to do too much at once." TALK ABOUT THE HANDLING OUT THERE: "A huge shift from last year and the years before. The balance of the car was a big curve ball today. We really didn’t anticipate the balance being that big of a deal. You saw us struggling all day long trying to fix the handle of the car. We were just pushing real bad. Just couldn’t pass, couldn’t be on offense. We started getting it a little bit better there, but just got it too loose." DID YOU FEEL THE PRESSURE AND LIKE IT WAS ‘TIME TO GO’ WITH THE LAPS WINDING DOWN? "If you want to win, yeah. I was moving forward, we were passing some guys on the outside." SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE GOT LOOSE IN THAT SAME AREA ON THE TRACK IS THERE SOMETHING TO THAT? "The direction of the wind. The wind, it will make you tight. It’s like this every week at every race track. If the winds blowing one way, the car is going to handle one way at one end of the track and handle a different way at the other end. We were really tight. The wind was in the door all the way through Turn 4 and we were freeing the car up real big. I just got it out of shape there and lost it." DID YOU FEEL LIKE YOU HAD ANYTHING FOR THEM TODAY? "Yeah, we were up there around fifth or sixth there when we spun out. We were moving forward. We had passed about four or five cars there in the last three or four laps. We were making up some ground." YOUR CAR WAS SO FAST HERE THIS WEEKEND VERY DISAPPOINTING? "Yeah, well it’s fast when it don’t have to handle good. But today it needed to handle and we weren’t handling."

Haas uncovered his VF-16 Formula One Challenger today - Becoming the first American F1 team in 30 years.
According to a foreign newspaper online, the different colors of gray and red tone scheme was derived from Haas machining company based in California. The company exports its machining to over 60 countries worldwide. Where is Ferrari's famed Prancing Horse? I don't see it. Oh, Ferrari must be pissed.

I saw them from a distance. I skipped going down to the infield stage this time because it was just so crowded. Brian Kelley is from nearby Ormond Beach. |

That said, there is something inherently wrong with this racing when the only real racing happens in the last 2.5 miles of a 500 mile race. The leader has such and advantage and it's really more evident on the cookie cutters where the average lead seems to exceed 2-3 seconds. Glad that Nascar got their media bump due to the finish...I worry about their staying power as a national sport now a days.

Been a Jimmie Johnson fan since his rookie year. Was a Dale Earnhardt fan prior to his death. I don't like NASCAR as much as I used to. Seems like so many shit drivers these days that muck races up. That and running restrictor plates on these big tracks is bullshit. Let them boys go and let em race or don't race the big-boy tracks.

Maybe the NASCAR experts can help me out here. Did Kenseth really need to try to block Hamlin? I couldn't tell if Hamlin had that much of a run and there wasn't much distance to the finish. I am a Kenseth fan and screamed in disgust when he wandered out there and almost put himself into the wall.

You might be the first person ever to call hockey "sweet"
It's actually awesome. I'm not hockey person, but I'm learning as fast as I can! Next up, "Dad on Skates." I'll use the time in traction to do good things! All things being equal, he wants to teach me how to skate, and I'm good with that. His goal this year, tech Dad to skate and to read music... So I've got that going for me... |
