Could this end up being a more disappointing offseason than 2009?

I'm thinking purely personnel moves. The coaching staff has a better pedigree, even if Reid is basically the last guy I wanted here. But player-wise? What are we looking at here?

Now this is not really a "draft Geno/Barkely/whoever" thing, it's more of a "how ****ed are we as fans of this franchise?" commentary. About the circumstances we, as fans, find ourselves in. I mean, think about it: we get the number one pick and for whatever reason, whether it's the prospects at the position or the front office philosophy, we aren't taking a QB. We get a complete turnover of the front office and coaching staff that basically everyone wanted, and Matt Cassel will be shown the door, to everyone's joy....yet our new quarterback is Alex frikkin Smith. With Chase Daniel serving as his boy wonder.

Does it get worse than this? Seriously. You couldn't script this stuff. This is like the Bad News Bears and the Indians from Major League had a baby who decided to play football. "Change" comes every 5 years or so, but nothing ever seems to get any better.

The football gods continue laughing.

This!!!

And by then, we will be winning 8 to 9 games a year and no chance at drafting a real QB ... but, just good enough to be mediocre and not a chance of winning a SB ... and with that many wins it will be more difficult for our @saveourchiefs efforts to be effective again.

I really hope I'm wrong and Alex Smith somehow helps us win a SB (we'll have to have a fantastic defense ... not likely to happen with the present coaching staff) ... I'll gladly eat crow ... I suppose Reid is looking at Daniels as strictly a backup???

All of my pulling for losses this past year has come to futility ... we will have the same team as we would have had with 5 to 7 wins. Guess I have to admit that all you guys saying ... never pull for a loss .... were right.

I ought to cancel my NFL Sunday Ticket and go find a hobby, but then I wouldn't read all the wisdom I find here.

Well, we'll see if these ****ers pull a rabbit out, but these are some of the most uninspiring moves at the QB position that I could imagine.

The Chiefs will draft someone late, and we'll see all three "QBs" on last year's roster flushed. And I'm not sure how much we'll have gained.

Wait 5 years for a positive turn. Add shitty backup QB. Watch slow decline into poop. Rinse and repeat.

This time it looks like we jumped the gun on the slow decline. We're adding our shitty backup QB before we can begin our turnaround.

Obama tired to warn everyone about the chaos a Sequester would cause but he was mocked. Now look at the mess we are in. We have yet another ex-Frisco QB and they are going to draft a damn lineman again.

Very possible.

We absolutely need to trade out of 1/1 with Buffalo, acquiring their first in next year's draft in the process. This might give us the needed ammunition to trade up if...(cuts himself).

Landry Jones is aiming too high for this team. He'll probably be a day 2 QB. Chiefs only look at day 3 QBs. They'll draft Rodger's little brother because if Aaron is good... Peyton and Eli right?

That's the hope, that these guys are brilliant enough to somehow catch lightning in a bottle despite a bunch of really uninspiring (good word, that) moves, and not just at QB.

And I think some people need to realize that I used the words "could" and "disappointing" and not "is" and "failure". 'cause I don't have any idea what's going to happen in the fall.

I do however think it's fair to say that the moves so far are disappointing. I mean, come on. Hope and change is Alex Smith and Chase Daniel...

That's at least as disappointing to me as trading for Matt Cassel was. And the free agent signings are just guys. As free agent signings usually are.

We'll see what they do in the draft.
