So, I didn't see a thread started, and all the others are pretty maxed out to the point where a fresh thread would be needed soon either way.

Time to share the run up to ST & and another memorable year in the making!

Maybe the DH doesn't need power. We need a DH who will just get hits and have a high average

The Rangers are one of four teams outfielder Torii Hunter is considering, reports Gerry Fraley of the the Dallas Morning News. The Orioles and Mariners are also at the top of Hunter’s list with the Twins a less likely landing spot. Mark Whicker of the L.A. Daily News was the first to tweet the news.

Just a guess but I'd bet he talked with us and found out we were only looking for a 1-year deal.

@Ken_Rosenthal: Torii Hunter told @MWhicker03LANG he is talking with #Orioles, #Mariners, #Rangers, #Twins. Source says others, including #Royals, in mix.

I personally think all he gets is a 1-year and someone is going to pay double digits millions for it.

I think it's a moot point right now as it sounds like he is going elsewhere. It just seems like there isn't a lot of solid options available for a RH power bat.
It's true that it's a weak market for RH power unless you trade for one. Mark Trumbo is an interesting option if Dbacks would like to move him.

That sounds about right.

**** that. (Language directed not at you but at Mark Trumbo)

Mark Trumbo hits a lot of HR (well, except for this year) but is otherwise useless. He can't play a position other than 1B/DH. He strikes out too much and doesn't draw walks. And he's going to require trading valuable pieces.

He's just not that good.

Torii Hunter has posted a higher OPS than Trumbo in each of the past 4 seasons. He's a much better baseball player and creates more runs, even at age 39, than you're going to get from Trumbo.

And all it costs is free agency dollars.

It's ok to direct language like that at me. I'd take no offense from you. I said interesting especially given his low salary (5M) for the amount of power he can provide. I will say his play in the field is absolutely hilarious.

I'm just not seeing much out there. We have a window to go for it. And we need power.

Trumbo is a RH version of Mike Jacobs. I agree that the Royals have a window, just think Trumbo is not a piece that helps with that window. (He's also probably getting a raise in arbitration to the $6-7 million range).

The Royals need a hitter who helps create runs. If he does that by hitting bombs, great. If he does it by hitting for average and decent (15-20) power, great.

But Trumbo? I think he's a descending player who slugged .415 playing in the friendly confines of the Arizona desert last year.

Trumbo had a bad year but was a 2.3 WAR guy last three seasons. He will be 29 and he only made 4.6m so he could be cheap in a trade and salary. He can't field but we don't need fielders. It's a decent gamble

Jon Heyman says that the Royals are taking a look at Kendrys Morales. Also the Indians and Rangers.
