Alex Smith is a damn good QB

Just look at some of the numbers around the league today. We're lucky to have him as our QB.

And you are both idiots.

Kaepernick hit his ceiling in 2012 before the league got tape on him. His team is 4-4.

He has 4 former 1000 yards receivers. You love mediocrity.

Just go deep dog!

Kap just has that penchant for doing something so ridiculously stupid that costs your team the game. Like his fumble on the goal line on the last play of the game to try to win against the Rams, who we bitchslapped all over the field.

Instead of staying patient and driving down the field, hes a guy that will rocket the ball as hard as he can into double coverage for an interception. Sure, he's going to make some big "ooohhh aaaahhh" throws, but he's also going to toss some turnovers up there that make you tear out your hair and **** your team out of the game.

Those guys are damn lucky to be 4-4 at this point. If Andy Reid hadn't giftwrapped and handed our game over to them on a platter, these guys are 3-5 and spiraling down the shitter.
Even with the sacks though, he accounts for far more yards than Alex Smith.

I get the Romo argument, but I'd personally rather have a QB who takes the risks, makes those mistakes and learns from them than someone who won't take those chances at all. And I'm not saying Kaepernick is the former (it's pretty obvious Smith is the latter), and if he's clearly that dumb and hasn't learned a damn thing, then yeah, I get that.

I heard this bit about Smith hitting his ceiling prior to 2011. Then again in 2012, when he would never be able to repeat the success of 2011 against a tougher schedule. Then again in 2013 in which he would no longer have the great team around him going to the lowly 2 and 14 Chiefs... then again in 2014 when he again is facing a grueling schedule. Detractors definition of his ceiling keeps changing... or the goal posts keep moving... or whatever your favorite expression.

I did notice most of their receivers are lagging behind their recent production, outside of Boldin.

Not sure if serious.

264 yards is "far more"?

**** outta here with that bullshit. We haven't even discussed their rushing yardage comparison. (274 for Kap on 54 att 162 for Alex on 27 att)

So lets get this right, for 264 yards you will just throw all caution to the wind, and take the dumbassery with the good and hope for the best?

Fortunately, you are not allowed to make personell decisions for the Kansas City Chiefs.

He's won one playoff game. The goalposts don't have to move because his ceiling hasn't moved since 2011.

It's a team! For ****'s sake. I don't get how anyone in their right mind can hang the playoff game on Smith. I see everyone say what I am saying and there is never a legit answer to how you can put that game on Smith

I was using total yards, but maybe beer and math don't mix or I was looking at the wrong thing... oops.

But, I also said "almost identical stats" earlier, so whatevs.

For someone who's 'thrown caution to the wind', he has basically the same stats as Alex Smith. I get fans' frustrations with big mistakes, but I'm not seeing how they made such a huge mistake in that trade... even if Kaepernick was holding back the offense, it's not like Smith would be the one who comes in and maxes out its potential or would have a significantly better shot at winning big games.

How many games this year can you say Kaepernick was solid.

You could say 4.

But if you want to look a lil deeper...
Cowboys gave game 1 away
@ AZ he forced a should of been a pick 6 to Cromartie
vs KC he forced a pass that should of been an INT in the redzone
vs STL he threw the pass up for grabs for no reason in the redzone

Watching the games I saw and keep seeing the few great plays and few times he dances a jig through a mine field.

The 49ers are scoring enough points.

KC had a chance to win late because he missed an open TD to Crabtree.
Philadelphia had a great chance to win late.
St. Louis could of been up big in the game Monday night but the refs blew a PI call on Cook to give the 49ers the ball before half and blown coverage let Lloyd score the TD.

I've fairly certain, everything else the same, Geno Smith let alone Alex Smith would be no worse than the getting the 4 Ws the 49ers have managed this year.

Smith led the offense to 44 points without Jamaal Charles. Blaming Smith for the Colts loss makes as much sense as blaming him for the NFC title game loss that the punt returner fumbled away.

It's funny that the same people that say wins aren't a good measure of a QB are sure quick to point out the 2 losses in the playoffs in which Smith's stats are about as good as they come.

But ok... 1 playoff game win. Let's not even look at the reality that one of those playoff losses came with a team that no one on the planet picked would get to the playoffs let alone win a game in the playoffs. Let's not even acknowledge the fact that the teams most valuable offensive player went down in the first series of the game. Let's not even mention the fact that Smith's performance that day was the best QB performance in all of the post season for that year. Let's not discuss that the defensive performance in that second half was one of the biggest collapses in NFL history. And DO NOT bring up the fact that despite all this Smith actually lead the team on what should have been a game winning drive with AJ Jenkins and the 3rd string running back if not for Bowe being afraid of injuring his foot further by dragging it in bounds. Let's hang that L around Smith's neck anyway and act like we are saying something meaningful.

I wasn't saying that... he was acting like Smith's ceiling keeps rising, but it really hasn't. He isn't winning more games or more significant games or carrying more of the offense or even being more efficient. His potential now is the same as it was in 2011.

And I give no ****s about that playoff game or anything he did with the 49ers anyway.
