He wound up mostly at slot corner, and was beaten relentlessly. The Chiefs were trying to trade Flowers, but found no takers for his contract. Flowers had some of the best years of his career under now-Texans DC Romeo Crennel, and cornerback depth is needed in Houston. We wouldn't be surprised to see them reunite. Flowers turned 28 in February.

He lands in a spot where he can immediately rehab his value as a starting corner and then hit the open market again at age 29. Flowers put plenty of really good tape together from 2008-12, and will add borderline Pro Bowl shadow ability to a pass defense that ranked 29th in the league last year. With first-round corner Jason Verrett also added to incumbents Shareece Wright and Richard Marshall, this won't be quite the unit to pick on that it was last season.
He's a Charger now.

That's usually when a guy is near the end of his deal. Flowers was in the middle of his. And it also requires the players being willing to restructure, something it sounds like Flowers was unwilling to do.

And based on the lack of visits, it sounds like Flowers isn't getting very many offers to his liking...

Ex-Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers looks likely to choose another team “sometime midweek,” according to Jason La Canfora of CBS, who notes that Flowers has “(plenty) of suitors.”

The 28-year-old Flowers started 87 games in six seasons for the Chiefs, who released him on June 13. He visited the Chargers last week. Flowers, who has 17 career interceptions, was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2013.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, 10 teams checked in on Flowers after his release from Kansas City, with the Ravens and Falcons among that group. The question now is whether Flowers makes any more in-person visits with interested clubs.

17 interceptions seems staggeringly low for a 6 year starter.
