***Official 2014 Training Camp/Preseason Mega-thread***

Post all of the Training Camp/Pre-season updates, relevant tweets, and general thoughts in this mega-thread.

If something happens to be particularly newsworthy, feel free to start a thread and discuss it there. Don't be a dickbag and "Q" up their thread, unless some idiot posts something like 5 days late.

WHEN POSTING TWEETS - When posting Tweets, instead of just copying the text, you can actually embed the tweet by clicking "...More" (right next to the timestamp of the tweet)-> "Embed Tweet" -> Copy the embed code, then paste that into your CP post. It will make the thread look a lot cleaner and we won't have to keep clicking away from the website to see the content. Thanks in advance.

Go read other reports around the league. If your WRs aren't beating the secondary in training camp, you have a BIG problem.

I tend to agree but I'll give them a pass until it is seen against Cincy in 11 days. At the same time it sounds like we have the best pass rush in the NFL, which is highly possible.

I'm not there so I don't know but I am pretty sure by camps prior to this (when we had camp heroes like Jon Baldwin jumping over all our secondary) that the secondary guys aren't allowed to press/jam that much, and thus the WRs get a ton of soft reps.

that doesn't mean our secondary is bad, it just means they can't do what the entire ****ing defensive scheme is built to do which is press/jam every play so the front 7 can attack.

Maybe I'm wrong, and keeping Daniel is the smart decision, and I won't critisize Reid and Dorsey if they do go into the season with Daniel.

I just have diffculty wrapping my head around the idea that anyone thinks this team will be competitive this year.
So in your divine wisdom did you see us making the playoffs last year? Every season is different. Get out of the past man....

There's a criticism of the Chiefs in here somewhere.

What is it.

I dont hate him at all, I was actually shocked by how well he played against eggo in his first start... I'm just not as enamored with his physical skill, Bray has a muuuch higher ceiling and thats why I prefer we keep him instead.

From what I've heard out of reports of guys who are playing well:
  • Zach Fulton and Rishaw Johnson are both playing pretty damn well. It appears that it may be a difficult decision to anoint a starter, and this time in a good way
  • Rodney Hudson sounds like he's raping faces and actually doing the best that one can expect against a behemoth like Poe.
  • Mark Harrison is drawing a lot of attention, and appears to be the scrub receiver that people will castrate themselves over when he gets cut in training camp
  • Dwayne Bowe is playing faster and better, but again, he's doing this in training camp. Same goes for Junior Hemingway in the first practice. Take all the WR stuff you hear with a grain of salt
  • Allen Bailey and Mike DeVito look to be improved/in fantastic shape, and are impressive in the drills. Dontari Poe apparently is even better than he was last year.
  • Same goes for Justin Houston. Improved even from last year.
  • Don't hear much out of the corners and secondary other than getting burned by receivers a lot, but again, that shit happens a lot in training camp to secondary players. As a whole, the group is a giant question mark and isn't going to make itself clear until the preseason games.

The Mark Harrison talk reminds me of the Josh Bellamy talk from a couple years ago.

We cant beat Bradford and Palmer? Both of those teams have good defenses, but so do we and offensively they're average at best, we can and should beat both of them.

I kinda like our chances against frisco as well, we have the athleticism and speed to keep Kap from running wild and I firmly believe he can be pressured into stupid throws when forced to stay in the pocket.

Their starting NT is out for the year, too... that should help some.

**** the rule changes necessitating the use of nickel defenses half a damn game.. Poe could be so much more effective if they could rotate him out.
