Likewise with the ALWest, The M's want to and are making a push for the WC, they have several games with Oakland & LA. They all 3 play each other and can take turns knocking each other around, again maybe they can split those around .500 ball.

We keep taking 2 of 3 and we will over take them. Now, this will be hard to do with the games against Detroit & Cleveland. But we have to play great D, great pitching and grind out the hits at the plate. Then take care of every other team we play at .750 ball, with the 2 combined, we will get the top spot!

This team is jelling and learning to grind it out, keeping themselves in the games to have a chance! They are learning how to win!

Can't you do both? It obviously wasn't a suicide squeeze. I also thought I heard Ned acknowledge it was a squeeze play in the post game news conference... I could have been wrong though, but I know they asked him if he also thought about having Colon squeeze with 0 outs as a follow up question.

It was a safety squeeze. Any time you run home on a bunt its some kind of a squeeze, the only difference is if the runner waits to see if he got the bunt down or not.

If you wait to make sure the bunt was successful, its a safety squeeze. You risk the defense throwing you out at home, but you are not dead in the water if the bunt is missed.

If you run on the pitch, its a suicide squeeze. There's no chance if the bunt is down but you are probably dead if the bunt is missed.

If you are going to do it at all, the safety squeeze is usually correct. A suicide squeeze can possibly be correct if your runner is not fast, its not a good count to pitchout, and you have a GREAT bunter.

Yeah, I know the difference. I just wasn't sure why Saul said there was no squeeze play.

I'll bet that when the Tigers were enjoying their win last night dancing around to "Turn Down for What", they fully expected to be in first place after tonight.

Gordon bomb + Price gets bombed + Australian Stallion = 2.5 games back.

Suck it Tigers. This is OUR division now.

I still can't believe Hendriks did that.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he'll be a stud front-line pitcher or anything, but we basically got this dude as a throw-in afterthought, and now I can definitely see him becoming a respectable back-end #4/5 or setup man. He's got the pitches to do it, and if he's finally getting control over his pitches, then DM made a hell of a trade for him.

It was neither. Dyson flat out said that he made the decision to bunt himself and that Cain didn't necessarily know he was going to lay one down.

That's funny. Ned claimed ownership of the play in his post game comments

I think that still qualifies as a safety squeeze

Yeah, I think we are getting carried away a bit. It was 1 game against a shitty lineup in a pitchers park. Barring injury he won't be in the Royals rotation likely ever. If he's going to be a Royal hopefully it a reliever with an ERA in the 2's to be what Crow was supposed to be.

His ERA was bad before the start, but 2 of his 3 outings for Toronto this year were pretty good. He got shelled in his last start @ Cincinnati, but I don't see why he couldn't translate into a back of the rotation arm.

Huh? Regardless of what happened last night we would have still been in first place.
