Self's teams always peak at the right time.... uh, eventually..... well..... maybe they're just soft.... yeah, they're soft".... they weren't winning the national championship. I wanted to see them play Florida again... they probably would have played loose and we could have seen Wiggins a couple more times and maybe Embiid once or twice.
This team never really had that drive or 'want' that other KU teams did. They lacked intensity routinely and never committed themselves on the defensive end, relying on Embiid bailouts all season. I noted it around mid-season too...they were very good, but they were never going to be great (at least by the standards of other Self teams). And that applied even with Embiid.

Would have been nice to watch Embiid play just one more time before going to the NBA, though. He's going to be exciting to watch develop (so will Wiggins for that matter).

Exactly.

The Jayhawks deliver. Period. This was KU's softest team since Roy's kids were still around, and they still had a chance to tie it at the end. It sucks, but that's sports.

I'll stick with the Jayhawks over the other KC-area teams, tyvm.
I view the Cardinals similarly. I hold them to very high expectations, but they've also proven to be an excellent organization. The Chiefs and Mizzou are largely (at times, complete) ****-ups. I get really disappointed with Cardinal losses, especially when I think they don't play to the level they're capable of, but at no point would I ever equate them to the Chiefs or Tigers.

Most posters in this thread would have jack-shit for sports if not for KU BBall.

Hardly. I don't sit around whining about mediocre Chiefs teams losing in the playoffs, I expect it. That's what mediocre teams do. Have no idea how they're comparable to the best team in college basketball over the last decade.

That's ridiculous. How many games do the '08 Giants win against the Patriots if they play a seven game serious?

Not too sure the facts support that argument. Wiggins was probably one of the 10-15 players in the NCAA this season (better than McLemore who was rather one dimensional). And on a per minute basis, Embiid was probably the most impactful player in the country when on the floor.

Most of you have read on another thread I am predicting this will be the year HCBS will go on to the NBA. Should that happen maybe KU Basketball should re-evaluate the type of players KU recruits and get players who will be "program guys" and spend 4-5 years in college. That seems to become the new way to succeed in the tourney now.
NBA? And go where exactly?
