Chiefs hire Jay Valai to be Defensive quality control.

Doesn't this pretty much confirm that Sutton is staying? You wouldn't hire a defensive coach if you were just about to switch your entire Defensive Staff.

I think Sutton has retired and being as he is a good Soldier he is staying in place until the new guy is in the building.
Either Sutton is back or the new DC has already accepted an offer, just that his team is still in it.
Because Chiefs Sutton will be back.

The Bengals also lost a playoff game to the Steelers 18-16 recently...but at least they had an excuse. AJ McCarron was starting.

Oh Jay Valai he is the guy in charge of the new valet service for parking your car at Arrowhead, you just have to send Chiefs an extra $20 on top of the prepaid advance parking tickets.

There is a opening now for Assistant Head Coach maybe Andy throws Sutton that bone if he isnt ready to retire. I just feel major changes to the defense is coming. Maybe im to hopeful.

I also think a whole new philosophy of offensive line play needs major consideration. We need to play with an anger up front. How many times when we needed to take over the line of scrimmage and dominate did we fail this year. Draft or pick from FA a mauler LG with an irritable disposition. Make Fulton fulltime center until can upgrade. Morse is a walking talking bandaid.

It's looking grim. For the Chiefs to hire somebody new and for them not to have put their staff on the "open market", the realistic possibility is that a coach who wasn't originally on the market (playoffs or trying to find a HC gig) is out there and that coach would be willing to retain the entire staff. I think we're either SOL with small chance that Spags/Zimmer on play. If there's any bright side, it's that neither of those guys have interviewed with anyone for a DC position yet.

More talent and no Alex Smith as the QB will make the defense look better.

So the new DC is hired, comes into Arrowhead and fires the guy you just hired because he has a quality control guy of his own he wants?

That's the plan?

It's possible that the new guy is hired already and approved Valai behind the scene. I doubt it but possible. I just think they would wait to announce the new coaching staff until after the new DC is hired.

What makes you think this is a Sutton hire?

Explain to me why Chiefs would not announce the Sutton is retained whats the benefit? Hide it from season ticket renewals?

Maybe the professional, high paid coaches and front office all got together and agreed that it was a personnel issue.

Maybe they got rid of the problem last year(Dorsey)

Maybe they are planning to hit FA and the draft hard on some defense.

Sutton had a top 10 defense his first 3 years here, but when your starting OLB is zombo, and you are working with multiple tried #2 CBs can't do shit right, maybe they realized that personnel outweighs scheme.
