Free agent WR Anquan Boldin has a visit set up but with which team? MY SOURCE SAYS US

Is it us ? hmm... My source says yep ! Exciting !

The Kansas City Chiefs could use some competition at receiver which is why I noticed that Anquan Boldin is still a free agent and has a visit set up with the “mystery team” sometime soon. It was previously reported that Boldin wanted to sign somewhere around training camp time, which is coming up.

NFL receiver Anquan Boldin told me he's had conversations with a number of teams about signing & has a visit set up for Sunday.

There is no doubt the Chiefs, who ranked 3rd worst n RZ pass success & 5th worst in 3rd down pass success, sorely could use him.

At 36 Boldin is past his prime but he still put up eight touchdowns last year in Detroit. He had 1,000 yard seasons as recently as 2013 and 2014. The Chiefs have a bunch of young guys at receiver so I would be interested in adding someone like Boldin, a savvy veteran who clearly has been doing something right to stay in the league since 2003. I’m looking to replace the veteran leadership that Jeremy Maclin brought.

Over The Cap has the Chiefs with about $11 million in cap space so they could afford it. Boldin probably wants to play for a contender at this stage of his career and the Chiefs fit there. I don’t know the scheme fit here but based on Boldin’s resume I would be interested.

This is a nice video on what Boldin has left. He’s lost a step but can still contribute.

Sadly, AP is a far better source for news about the Chiefs than ChiefsPlanet. They're a little more toward the homer side for sure, but it's a good place to keep up on what's happening rather than sorting through a handful of megathreads.

Disagree this place is still the best for news and inside info. AP's reporting of stuff is fine but the writers are AWFUL. Every article sounds like the author has to sound out every word as he types it out and the takes are just awful. The Facebook page is spam during the off season.

I'd be very, very pleased if it was us. The dude is a winner, a natural leader. Steve Smith esque.

Personally, I don't think anyone in that WR room is ready to be the leader yet. Conley has the head for it but not enough production. Boldin could teach those WRs anything they could ever want to know.

Not to mention, he could be great depth and could sub in sometimes.

I think this move would be perfect. Boldin isn't a deep threat and neither is smith. Boldin has good hands and one of Smiths strengths is his accuracy. It's like a match made in heaven. Smith hasn't had a legitimate red zone target in awhile. And I don't think Harris really counts.

They're in the business of generating Chiefs news. That's their thing. People are paid by them to DELIVER Chiefs news. We're a free message board that posts links and tweets from outside sources, with the occasional insider information post about seeing a coach or player at Best Buy. CP is all about Chiefs fan discussion and community.

I miss a lot more chiefs news than I used to now that megathreads have become more popular here.

It's ironic because BJ cut his teeth at Arrowheadpride.

Yeah, I've kind of given up the fight. The people who post articles have largely given up because people scream repost (or in KnowMo's case, call him a Donk troll for a completely reasonable article about the Chiefs).

I come here just to see what people are chatting about, but I've got a few good RSS feeds that I use to actually keep up on Chiefs news.

Arrowheadpride is the CNN of Chiefs news (complete with fake news about how good Alex Smith was the last four years).

We're Infowars.

This is a terrible move. Boldin isn't a receiver who gets massive separation.

He's an older, slower version of prime Dwayne Bowe.

That's not a good combo with Alex Smith.

There was a time where all you needed to do is load up the front page to see what was going on. That's true for BIG news these days, but most of the minutiae is just thrown in megathreads or isn't even posted at all.

Not much we can do about it at this point. The era of message boards has largely ended, so we'll keep limping along, but it's never gonna be like it used to be. There are just too many better ways of keeping up out there.

I avoid megathreads like a plague so I'm in the same boat. I don't give a shit if it's a repost from a megathread, if it's newsworthy, give it it's own thread.

Yep. With the way threads degrade into off topic discussions, Alex Smith wars and other nonsense, I rarely read past the OP article and the first few dozen posts. Any news that gets posted in the 300th post of a megathread has no chance of making it to me. Agree completely with your last sentence.

About the only megathreads I follow regularly are the Mizzou basketball and Mizzou football threads, but those make a little more sense here since they're side topics on a Chiefs board.
