Do you think KC will draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round?

Lots of smoke around KC and Qbs in this upcoming draft...but I've been let down before by hope of drafting a QB high and passing for a fatty bust.

I'm just interested to see who believes KC will draft a QB in the first 2 rounds.

Not that you want them to draft one...do you think KC will actually draft one.

I'm interested to see how many here think it's actually going to happen.

I think Andy wants to. There are a lot of QB's that fit his "mold" this year.

But until it happens it doesn't...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

IMO,this is the reason why if KC 's preferred prospect is in striking range the Chiefs could/would use 4 picks to move up.

It's also dependant on if Dorsey and Reid believe they're close to being championship caliber

Being that they were two wins short of going to the SB, I'm pretty sure they do.

This is the last year of our push.

Alex can or can't is arguable but this is realistically the last year we can expect an "Alex" season. 33 year old HB's don't run all that great so we shouldn't be expecting scrambling greatness out of our checkdown-dual-threat.

Alex took a serious bump last year and while many are in denial this is exactly the type of thing that permanently changes an athlete. He's got children, a hot wife, and he's an intelligent guy. He's got to know retirement is the better option at this point.

We better start looking at alternatives now...

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think the odds are high.

1. Alex Smith is 1 year away from being void able. His next contract will be for a 35 year old qb. Dorsey has historically drafted first rounders as leverage against old guys negotiating their final contract. Fisher for Albert. Ford for Hali. Peters for Shaun Smith.

2. Reid has aggressively denied any interest in a competitive qb. Until this year. They aren't going to smoke screen interest knowing it will piss off Alex Smith. Every interview it sounds like they are genuinely serious about finding a qbotf

3. The Chiefs are not very good at smoke screening. A few years ago, they completely tipped their hand on left tackle. A year later, supposedly they got smoke screened on Manziel (thankfully). In fact, they'd be dumb to smoke screen interest in a qb because all its done is drive qb draft value up

One more thing... Dorsey is not a conservative first round drafter. Eric fisher was a very conservative pick. But dee ford, Peters, and Chris Jones (practically first round) were high risk high upside picks. All widely criticized picks. I completely disagree that Dorsey likes to play it safe in the first. The exact opposite.

Alex's wife's comments after last year's concussion sound like someone genuinely very concerned. Id be shocked if Alex plays past 35 and wouldn't be surprised if he's retired in 2 years if not sooner.

I think the chances of the Chiefs drafting a QB in the first round are about the same as the Chiefs drafting someone nobody has ever heard of at another position. So, a decent chance.

We will get Mahomes in the first and Dobbs in the 3rd. Then Alex will announce his retirement after the draft.
