I now have a cold brew pitcher at work. It's a plastic pouring container with a reusable filter built into the lid, attached underneath so the grounds hang in the coffee. I'll make up a pitcher as I come in to work on the first day and it's ready by the next - takes 12 to 24 hours to brew. I find it smoother, stronger, easier on my stomach, and very refreshing. I've been using Death Wish coffee and I drink it black.

Guess I missed this thread the first time around.

The Navy got me started on coffee many years ago and I would drink at least a pot in the morning if not two or three.

A little over three years ago, I switched to decaf and it has leveled out my day. I don't have that "balls to the wall" feeling in the morning anymore and then the afternoon crash like I used to.

More recently, the last few months, I only drink a couple cups of decaf hot in the morning with breakfast, then drink the rest of the pot throughout the day over ice.

It is delicious and better than Iced tea.

During the winter I rock a thermos of coffee like it’s the cure. I can’t do it in the summer.

You should take a look at cold brew if you have acid reflux. Cold brewing it lowers the acidity.

Thanks, I will check it out.

Since I retired, no signs of acid reflux though.

I’m cheap. I just filter the grounds after the brew. If that rig is cheap I may pick it up.

Thanks for the rec on death wish.

Appreciate it.

I grabbed it for about $28 from a local drug store. It's made by the same company I get my water bottles from, Takeya. Looks like Amazon has it for $24.99:

Not a bad little read. I appreciate Amazon links for the BFE crowd. .

What coffee are you using for cold brew?

I started with the Kicking Horse one, it is $10 a bag and I am also cheap. It works just fine for me, I’m pretty simple when it comes to coffee, don’t need anything special.

I buy Chameleon cold brew... it apparently has a lot of caffeine, something like 65mg/oz, so I drink a couple shots of it with a couple shots of milk. A few years ago it was one of the few that didn't add a ton of sugar, even though there are more options now.

Here's a cold brew pitcher from another (off) brand that is cheaper and larger. I haven't used this so I can't recommend it but it looks like the same process as the Takeya with a larger, cheaper device:
