Is KC a Baseball town or a Football town?

So this tweet got me thinking that KC is primarily a baseball town. At least when the Royals are good.

Just looking through the posts it feels like apathy has set in again with the Chiefs....

Disgussss.....

I think that's why the Chiefs have been supported more so the last 20 years or so.
Now the Royals have been kicking tail and are going to the playoffs again.
Chiefs have really taken a back seat on the bus in this town everyone just wants to live, taste and breathe Royal blue.
Starting from 1969, with the Royals being an expansion team, the Royals have four pennants and two world championships, which is better than the one AFL, one AFC, and two world championships that the up-and-running Chiefs have accomplished in that time.

There were definitely a lot more people at the Royals event but that Chiefs pic was clearly taken very early in the day. The hill filled up, although it didn't really get full until the parade watchers started coming over. At the Royals, the parade route crowd couldn't get on the hill because it was already packed.

No question the cold was the big difference. A lot less kids at this one.

They said early that they already had more people than the Royals parade so....

Either way this city loves their baseball and football teams!

Football reigns supreme in KC and has been that way for over 50 years. Currently the Royals are in the shitter. They have 3 years until they get back to the playoffs. Right now the Chiefs are about to win multiple titles.

Football is pretty much popular everywhere but this town is def a bandwagon baseball town.

I'd give football the edge, but doesn't have to be an "either or". This town is a good sports town and can support both.

The Chiefs are in a much better position going forward for the next 10-12 years with Mahomes and the way the MLB cap works.
