Now im completely spitballing here, but if the Chiefs staff thought the difference in Hudson, and Kush/Morse was as big as you think it was, then they would of kept Hudson right?

When looking at such a low rating, one must assume that the Chiefs have gotten notably worse or that the league's middle tier has gotten notably better. It's hard to imagine that the Chiefs are worse.

Running backs are the same.
Quarterback is the same, yeah whatever.
Receivers are probably slightly better, at least with more competition for positions.
Offensive line seems better, at least with more competition for positions.
Special teams are the same.
Secondary is notably better.
Linebackers should be better with DJ's return and ascending young players.
Defensive line is the same if Poe can come back.

Why should their ranking decline? My suspicion is that the sportswriter is dumb.

WR's aren't just slightly better. Maclin is easily a top 10-15 WR, Wilson is better than Avery with upside and Conley is an absolute freak. The WR position is MUCH better than it was a year ago.

Year in and year out, no team has shown itself as capable of making a deep playoff run as the Kansas City Chiefs. I mean, it's not like the Chiefs have been mediocre-to-dreadful for over a decade or anything.
