Yes. Runs saved/scored are generally viewed as being worth 1 win for every ten runs.

So if you record 18 defensive runs saved over ANY period of time, it's worth an additional 1.8 wins in your win expectancy.

That's a huge/insane number for a 7-game stretch and is not sustainable, even for a defense as good as the Royals. And it's hard to apply in such a small sample size. I was quoting the win value simply for the purpose of pointing out HOW crazy a performance that is, already.

Lorenzo Cain is credited with saving 3 runs above average in week 1. That would put him at an astounding 87 runs saved over a full season. Which is crazy, even Andrelton Simmons thinks so.

They were crazy good last year as a unit and still were only credited with 57 defensive runs saved (Gordon-Dyson-Cain-Aoki), which is an astounding number in its own right.

I've heard good things about Orlando's defense over the years. He should be capable in any OF spot, though he's not going to sniff CF unless both Dyson and Cain are hurt (and I think he'd still give the Royals above-average defense in that spot).

Cleveland struck out 14 today and beat Chicago 4-2. We have a chance to put both teams down by 5 games tonight.

Texas is about to finish its 10th game before we start our 8th. How is it possible for them to be a full series ahead of us with no rainouts?

Also, Boston is about to lose to Washington. Outside our division, every AL team will have at least 3 losses. All but two will have at least 4 losses...and one is Tampa who plays at Toronto an hour before we start.

The only team in baseball outside our division that hasn't lost 3 or more games...is Colorado.

I think it's hysterical we're only -123 favorites tonight (and falling)

the public and Vegas are really thinking we HAVE to lose soon (which is probably true)

but tonight? Against Kyle Gibson? I just don't see it.

Trevor Bauer is looking like he's finally put it all together.

It's like 3 years later than I expected him to do that, but I think the guy has huge upside. He still has to get his walks under control, but the strikeout stuff is really starting to flash.

Is baseball the only sport that gives states their own team? It just seems weird somehow. Texas, Colorado, Florida, Arizona, etc.

In this regard, I kind of hope Detroit keeps winning. If the other three teams in this division are all looking up at a run away race between the top two teams in the division, it would kill any will they have to bring themselves back in it. The two best records in baseball are sitting at the top of your division, how do you catch them both?

That being said, **** detroit.

NFL has the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, and Tennessee Titans.

I'd actually say it's WORSE than MLB, because there are two additional teams that belong to GROUPS of states or regions of the country (New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers)

The NBA has a team that is a state's nickname. So that's kinda weird.
