This turned up on Reddit's ever-excellent r/JustRolledIntoTheShop. There's no explanation for why this car was allowed to atrophy like this, but it's possible the person who uploaded this picture immediately recoiled in horror and had to go puke before posting anything further.

Part of the reason I am always scared to buy a used car. Many people have no idea about basic maintenance and drive their cars hard.

I would probably not go 10,000 miles between changes in a car with 160k, synthetic or not. That's just me.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic, and change it around every 5-7000 miles. Still change the oil myself.

It's actually not all that much more to take it to a quick lube place, but every goddamn time I take it to one of those places I've had trouble getting the filter off the next time because those cocksmokers always put an oil filter wrench on it and tighten the holy **** out of it. So I do it myself if at all possible.

I had a new customer come in the other day with a 2010 challenger rt with 33k on it for an odd noise from the engine and it had never had an oil change. It's wild how oblivious people are. We put a jasper reman in it that cost him 6819 bucks

I daily drive my Speed3. I drop it every 5k on the dot (rotate the tires too).

I'm reasonable on it. I drive it hard occasionally but don't beat it up.

I use Castrol Edge in my truck with a Fram Tough Guard filter..change every 3000 miles even though everything says I can go 5000-10000..all together it's like $35 and I'm completely fine with paying that because I plan on keeping the truck for a long time..so I want to keep the engine in as good of shape as possible..it only has 70000 miles and I plan on keeping it until it has over 200000..I put on about 7000 a year

If people only keep their vehicles for 4-6 years..and drive less than 15000 miles a year regular oil is going to be good enough if they change every 3000..it won't make sense financially to put in synthetic oil..if people keep vehicles longer then I would suggest paying an extra $5-15 every few months

Fram filters are junk. If you value your vehicle i would suggest a different brand. Wix or Napa Gold is are decent. My preference for mine is K&N or Royal Purple

Eh, I've always used Fram. I've never heard anything negative about them.

The tough guards aren't junk. The base level frams are though.

Wix, Napa Gold, and Bosch are all good.
