That would be huge. With those WR's, and that defense (with possibly Revis back?)

Damn...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I'm pretty sure the answer to 3 is yes. That makes so much sense I'm sure it's being discussed.

If we cut/trade Alex Smith with a June 1 designation saves us 8.4m this year ...if traded only clears 1.2m
If we cut/trade Daniel, we save 3.8m

That's 12.2m (and a 7.2 dead money hit next year) if cut as June 1st...5m if traded or outright cut.

Drew Brees has base salaries (all we would be on the hook for if we trade for him) of 18,750,000 and 19,750,000 the next 2 years.

Alex Smith has cap hits of 15,600,000, 17,800,000 and 16,900,000 the next 3 years.

I wonder what they want in trade compensation.

I'd easily spend 5m more over the next 2 years to go from Alex Smith to Drew Brees.

That move would have to put us in the group of Super Bowl contenders.

I thought Alex Smith had a clause in his contract that eliminated all guaranteed money if he wasn't on the roster opening day of this year?
