Put your ten pounders on the table and make your predictions here.

Seeing all the optimism in this thread and that Vegas has the KC over/under at 80 on wins and has KC with the 4th worst odds to win the division behind Det,Chisox and Clev I'm now more than a little concerned.

I'll go 78-84 and hope I'm way wrong.

you think losing James Shields, Billy Butler and Nori Aoki while replacing them with Volquez, Medlen, Young, Morales, and Rios is going to make us a worse team while we didn't hit a lick last year?

NOT A SINGLE GUY ON OUR TEAM hit well last year. Not one. They all underachieved.

We had a team full of underachievers make it to game 7 of the WS last year.

You honestly don't think Hosmer or Moose might take a leap this year? You don't think Morales could give us more than Butler (who was deemed the LEAST VALUABLE PLAYER IN THE AL by one sports writer)? You don't think Rios might make a HUGE upgrade over Aoki (who had 1 good month)? You don't think Lorenzo Cain might make a star leap?

Is our defense suddenly not going to be great?

Is our bullpen, who added Hochevar as well as a ton of fliers on formerly talented guys like Madson while keeping Frasor (a plus bullpen guy) while replacing Chen with a 2 WAR guy (Young) suddenly going to not be the best bullpen in the majors?

WHY IS THIS BEING OPTIMISTIC?

We are SO MUCH better than people are giving us credit for it's hilarious.

I am going to PayPal Nzoner a few hundred dollars to put a bet on the Royals Over for me when he's down in Vegas. My God, it's laughable how underrated we are.

Shields was a 3 WAR guy last year ... he was arguably our 3rd best starter last year.

Are we really thinking Ventura and Duffy ... neither of them might take a leap?

This is just hilarious to me.

I agree with a lot of your points, but there's one thing you need to consider. The Royals were relatively injury free to all of their key players, including just about the whole pitching staff minus Hochevar. I doubt they have the same amount of luck there and that could affect things.

well absolutely

but do any predictions made preseason take into account hypothetical injuries for any team?

Sure... but they still missed Hosmer for what, 6 weeks and had Danny Duffy limited from starting for basically two months because of his recovery from Tommy John. There was also the litany of nagging injuries Omar Infante played through, and Jason Vargas missing time because of his apendectomy.

The Royals had positive luck, but they still missed key guys for crucial time.
