Please help me understand.
I was grabbing lunch, and I overhear a man behind me say, "That's when the possum showed up and we became friends."

I thought it was a punchline of a joke I missed, but no one laughed.

This story reminded me of a hapening years ago.

We had a buddy who had bought a farm and had recently moved his citi-fied, money-born lady friend into his farm house. We had helped him quite a bit with roofing and drywall. He had made several comments about putting on airs for her family and was afraid of being viewed as a hillbilly..which he wasn't.

I cannot recall all of the details of what stimulated the act, but they were away on a trip and scheduled to return with her parents in tow to see where their danty-daughter was now residing.

Anyway, when they were driving to their new country castle, the noticed new signs at every intesection that said things like "oppossum ranch 2 miles". When they pulled into the driveway, they were greeted by a large plywood sign that said "Oppossum Ranch, Oppossums for sale, $5.00 call ****** at 555-555-5555(his number). Below the sign was a pen in the front yard full of the oppossums we had driven around and caught the night before.
