Baseball/Football/Other Sports Cards You Thought Would Be Worth Something

I'm sure there are a lot of collectors here.

Do you ever remember opening a pack of cards and thinking that you hit the Jackpot, only to later think back upon that and laugh?

What were those cards?

I have an Aaron Hernandez game jersey card somewhere. It was $40 or so when I looked months ago.

I'm sure I owe somebody else now for owning it.

I'd bet that Marino game jersey and Favre card are worth something, that's a sweet looking Favre card.

Jerry Rice, as great as he was, I cant remember ever seeing a card of his worth as much as you'd think it should be, he just never seemed to be a very hot get.

I vividly remember the day I pulled that Favre card and was very excited about the look myself,the numbers are actually made of felt or something like that.

Remember these early 90's sweet ass cards? I thought they would be the next great things, just because they were bigger. My 10 year old dumbass self bought a bunch of packs. Then if I remember correctly, McDonald's printed sheets of them with perforated edges. I think that was the end of Gameday

In 1993, UD had "Silver Signature" and "Gold Signature" cards. For a while, the Nolan Ryan Gold was worth $250 bucks in its year of issue. I had dozens of Silver Signatures (one per pack). I think the only Gold I ever got was Rondell White. Mother****er.

I think I have a George Brett SS. It was worth like $6 once.

Raw cards don't carry the same weight they did back in the day. I'm in the same boat, have the same set still wrapped. Now, if you open it, submit the Griffey for grading and get a 10, you'll have a pretty sweet return. Even 9s bring decent money considering the number of those cards in existence.

I sold my collection of Bo cards for about 1700 a little over a year ago. Thought I did ok, turns out I should have pieced it out on Ebay, I would have made bank.

I had a Grant Hill rookie basketball card that I traded for at a card show. 1/50. Beckett graded it a 10. I remember giving up a lot in trade.

I used to have 3 sets like 1994-1996. When my water heater broke it destroyed them, and I threw them out. Didn't look like they were worth anything anyway.
