Strangest things your pets do?

Spin-off of Rain Man's eulogy, luv posted about her cat insisting on laying on a sponge, got me thinking.

What's the strangest thing one of your pets does? I'm not talking about the strangest thing they've done one time; I mean one of the things they do all the time.

I've got a cat for the first few months we had him would freak the **** out at two shirts I owned. I have two Chiefs shirts that both have fairly large screened images on the front. If the cat's paws touched the emblems, he would lean his head way back with these huge, freaked out eyes, and then he would wig out and run away.

Same cat finally got over that, but now if I wear a ball cap and pick him up, as soon as he sees the brim he puts both paws on the brim and hangs there like it's a ledge.

Our cat will get in the shower with us too, though they stay in the shadow of the water and don't want to get wet. They like to drink and play in the puddles afterward too.

One of the cats likes to scratch the shit out of the carpet at the same place in our bedroom every morning to wake up the wife, so she'll get fed (which the wife does almost every morning). I explained that the only reason the cat does that is because she falls for it all the time. The wife said, "Fine! What would you do instead!?" I decided to put a bunch of cayenne pepper in that spot and see what happened. Sure enough, the little bitch started scratching the next morning, stopped, began sneezing like crazy and tore off around the house, still sneezing. She hid in the basement the entire day.
Get an automatic feeder and it will most likely stop.

It was really a bummer after he died, since I had grown so accustomed to him hopping in the tub with me. One of those neat little things you don't think about until it's gone forever. I like all the cats I have now, but he'll always be my favorite pet.

Where's the fun in that?

Besides, I guarantee you the little bitch would do this...

I sneaked in one night and watched. Whenever lights would pass by our window(faces out less than 100 yards from busy interstate) she would take a full run across the living room, spring up the couch and throw her body into the wall attempting to catch the light beams.

Full sprawl. Smashing into the wall as hard and fast as she possible can. Not a smart cat. Still does this pretty regularly.

My cairn terrier will go nuts when I take the trash out to the trash bin. I think he does this because I have a big storage container next to the trash bin. Two or three times a year a rat will be inside it. I can tell if there is one because my dog can smell the rat and wants me to open the container. When I do the rat is doomed. It takes my dog about 5 seconds to catch it. He then shakes his head and snaps it's neck.

Also, whenever I take a nap on the sofa my dog will jump up on the arm of the sofa and look out into the backyard. It's like he thinks it's his job to keep watch when I am asleep so no one can sneak up on me.

8 year old female lab/pointer mix. Weird issue.

I've recently bought a couple handguns. Glock 22 and Ruger LCP. I have had a 12 gage and and a very old 22 rifle. she has seen the rifle and shotgun...no problem.

Well, I wanted to get a ccw so I bought the pistols. I am purchasing clips, lasers, and different holsters for my pistols while I wait for my ccw class. Every time I bring out my pistols, or hell, even reach into the drawer with the pistols, she hides. It's weird.

she's never been around pistols, never heard a gun shoot, yet she's afraid of pistols when I play/work/clean it.

...maybe she was killed by a pistol in her previous life?????

It has gotten to the point that I bring out the pistols after I close her in the bedroom so I don't feel guilty. lol
