Kansas City Chiefs: C-
As typical of a Scott Pioli-led draft, the Chiefs' 2011 class featured a few highly productive, criminally underrated prospects in the middle rounds who will prove future NFL starters. Those players, former Florida State guard Rodney Hudson(notes), Colorado cornerback Jalil Brown(notes) and Iowa quarterback Ricky Stanzi(notes), helped to save a class that otherwise was very uncharacteristic of the Chiefs and Pioli. First-round wideout Jon Baldin (Pittsburgh) has undeniable talent, but isn't as physical as his imposing size (6-4, 228 pounds) would indicate and he was a headache, at times, for the Pittsburgh coaching staff. Georgia's Justin Houston(notes), likewise, is a bit of a 'tweener whose collegiate production was over-inflated by scheme. He also reportedly failed a drug test at the combine. The Chiefs were deservedly recognized as having a spectacular draft last year. This one, however, leaves me scratching my head. The guy says we picked some "future starters in the middle rounds: Rodney Hudson, Jalil Brown, Ricky Stanzi" Two of the three guys he named were not even chosen with starting positions in mind. Dude knows Jack about ours or anyone else's draft. |

Pioli is about developing players & culture of our football team. These players are going to learn the system, how to be pro, and WIN for Championships. Then prossess and repeat.

I think Pioli went for a lot of raw talent this year. Most of them need to be coached up, with Hudson probably being the closest to ready start immediately. But almost everyone we drafted is a freakin physical specimen.
Lots of potential in this draft if our coaches can get the best out of them. |

Man, I'm really warming up to the idea that Bailey can be moved inside to the second level. The guy carries 285 lbs. amazingly well:
![]() and has remarkable measurables: 6'3" 285 lbs. 4.71 40 yard dash 36.5" vertical 9'9" broad jump 27 reps at 225 Led the Hurricanes for two straight seasons in sacks and tackles for loss. I remember watching him at the Marine Skills challenge and thinking that there is no way this guy is a 285 lbs. dude. Too quick/fast for someone that size. He'd bring the pain up the middle for sure. |

He's a developmental OLB prospect according to Pioli.
I bet he hits like a ton of bricks. |
