The NFL is bracing itself for a multi-billion dollar class action that could cripple the sport.

Yep. And it is sheer lunacy. There is implied consent there that should relieve the NFL of any punitive liability.

People that commit suicide always piss me off. So freakin selfish. I feel for his kids and other family members left behind. I always hated but respected him when he was a charger. Having said that, I guess this is the last time he'll be droppin the BOOM on someone

Hahahahaha - we'll soon have so many crutches for people in our society that nobody will need to take any personal responsibility at all. Kid is high energy - must be ADHD... He was raised without a father, give him a pass because he has 5 kids with 4 different mothers. He's depressed so he offed himself, it's okay because he was depressed though. I don't care what ailment you have. If the guy toting around 80 lbs of testicle to use as a chair at any moment hasn't put a bullet in his skull then there isn't an excuse large enough.

I feel empathy for Seau's family and close friends, whose lives are in a bad way right now because of what he did. In light of that, I feel very little for Seau himself.

And i'm just a joe... Seau wasnt going to be bereft any business opportunities or great life with the nationwide support structure there for him,, whatever his financial difficulties may have been couldnt be THAT bad, then of course the family angle... leaving them like that... put a gun to your heart & pull the trigger, such a crazy thought. But do i feel empathy & sadness for him, definitely. |

Seriously. Talk about selfish, how about refusing to try to understand the situation facing someone who was in enough distress to end their own life.

What's to understand? They're dead. Gone. It's all over. By their own hand. They did it to themselves. Why torture the living with questions and agony? What if I had been a better son or daughter? Why didn't I get better grades? Why didn't I just get a paper route so I could have helped with bills? What if had been nicer to him? What if I'm suicidal too? Why didn't I tell him I loved him more often? That's what I want to understand. Why would any person ever kill themselves for any reason knowing their family is left with all the turmoil?

It's amusing seeing the people that thought he was able to use logical thinking when this happened.

Blaming a suicidally depressed person for the state of their brain is as stupid as blaming someone for their appendix bursting. To clarify: This is not to "defend" suicide in any way, because I've had a friend leave a suicide note and disappear without word until the next day (thankfully, she was stopped by people at her school and is doing a lot better these days). It was one of the worst days of my life. I know lots and lots and lots of people who have had to fight depression and suicidality. Suicide is a horrifying thing and isn't a viable solution to pretty much anything short of terminal illness, but rational thoughts are not what lead people to it. Death is not appealing to suicidal people, and the fear of hurting others is probably the main thing standing between a lot of suicidal people and the act itself. But sometimes your outlook gets so bad that it looks like your only way to end the suffering, and it overrides every single thought and emotion you experience. And if you've never felt the panic and desperation and complete mental exhaustion that brings you to that point but still feel the need to comment on how others have dealt with that seemingly unbearable weight, kindly **** right off.
