But that Strawberry example is why cards were ruined. That set was expensive, and not all that easy to buy at a decent price. I want to to know where you can sell an Upperdeck 89 Griffey for 130, might get back in the business.

Might be able to pull a Mike Trout gold plated autographed, jersey card out of a pack.

The Mantle and Griffey cards basically pay for it, especially after I get them graded.

Oh, and the Jeter Refractor is worth a few pennies as well.
Damn, this makes me sad. Baseball cards are only worth a fraction of what they were 15-20 years ago. To put it in perspective, the Rickey Henderson rc that was basically thrown in on your purchase, I sold for over $100 20 years ago.
I have a bunch of old baseball cards, but I wonder if they'll ever be worth much. I haven't purchased any in years.

I had Topps, Donarus, and Fleer Ripken Jr. rookie cards in my collection. I had a bunch of other cards too. I sold the whole collection for $75 in 1990. I really regret it...

It depends on what you have, and while the value of some cards suck, some are going for a decent penny.

Now, if you can get your hands on some the sought after new era cards, major $$$$$!!!!

You shouldn't. I doubt you could get anywhere close to that now.

I did a lot of baseball carding when I was a kid. I was never in it for money and I'm glad I wasn't. I liked the cards because I loved baseball.

Nice. I have a few of those. What is that Brett card--1/2 his rookie card, 1/2 something else. I assume one of those special insert cards?

My dad and I easily lost thousands but we enjoyed collecting together, which they say is priceless.
I worked for a memorabilia distributor during this time......and it was pretty amazing to watch prices go through the roof.

This was the time where Randy Moss rookie cards and worn-jersey cards were hot.

But what was hilarious was when Pokemon hit the US market. sports card stores were ordering more (and charging more) for Pokemon cards than any sport.

Boxes were going for over 100 bucks, ebay was booming with rare cards. I've never seen anything like it.

Everyone wanted to sell those cards, and you would have the most unbelievable businesses - that had absolutely zero to do with sports or trading card memorabilia - want to sell them.

eBay last week. I was involved in the bidding for a Minute, but dropped out. So I got notices on the bidding, and both sold for about $126.00
