Eh. It's easy to point at the drafts and argue "what-ifs" about Denver's future without Manning, but from a results-based standpoint, Denver should be happy about this. We don't really have a leg to stand on atm, even if we compare the bodies of work of the teams since Reid's arrival to our franchise.

2017 3 Carlos Henderson WR
2017 3 Brendan Langley CB
2017 5 Jake Butt TE

2016 1 Paxton Lynch QB Possible franchise QB
2016 2 Adam Gotsis DT Solid rotation player
2016 3 Justin Simmons FSgot playing time as a rookie, possible future starter
2016 4 Devontae Booker RBDecent RB2
2016 5 Connor McGovern GUnknown

2015 1 Shane Ray DESolid player
2015 2 Ty Sambrailo TSo far, no good
2015 3 Jeff Heuerman TESo far, no good
2015 4 Max Garcia CMeh
2015 5 Lorenzo Doss CBMeh
2015 6 Darius Kilgo NTCut, currently with NE
2015 7 Trevor Siemian QBSolid player
2015 7 Taurean Nixon DBCut, currently with JAX
2015 7 Josh Furman DBNot in the NFL

Year Rnd Player Pos
2014 1 Bradley Roby DBGood player
2014 2 Cody Latimer WROnly contribution is as ST gunner

Year Rnd Player Pos
2013 1 Sylvester Williams DTDecent player, TENN signed him FA
2013 2 Montee Ball RBBust
2013 3 Kayvon Webster DBGood player, got nice FA contract

2013 5 Tavarres King WRAmazingly, still in the NFL
2013 6 Vinston Painter GBust
2013 7 Zac Dysert QBBust

He got a bunch of free agents who climbed aboard the Manning Marketing Machine, but Manning no longer exists. They'll need to start relying on the draft, and that means Elway's sharp eye identifying the next Quanterus Smith or Lamin Barrow or Darius Kilgo.
Now, I don't know if he should have insisted on being the highest paid GM, one can say HE owes Denver, not Denver owes HIM. The drafts shall we say have been less than desirable. Fortunately, many of the lesser FA signings have been beneficial along with the Manning Effect.

By the way the Broncos just signed Kubiak for a scouting/personnel position.

Yeah, that's kind of weird, especially since it appears he will spend most of his time in Texas.

He's not a good fit for Texas , we've been trying to rid the state of queers and only leave the steers.

I know he doesn't have the acumen of Michael Vick but he does all right as a scout and personnel guy.
