**Official USA vs Portugal World Cup Game Thread**

USA vs PORTUGAL | 5 PM KICK OFF | ESPN
Arena Amazonia | Manaus, Brazil

United States moves on to the knockout stage of the 2014 World Cup with a win. A tie or loss leaves a lot of other scenarios but lets just win this.

US faces a talented team that is having a bit of a crisis of confidence. They feature the best player (arguably) in the world in Cristiano Renaldo. If we can contain CR7 the rest of the team probably does not have what it takes to give us trouble.

Huge ****ing day for US Soccer.

Well, I've watched Bradley for almost a decade.

He is the greatest American player in the post-Landon generation. He's had a bad cup so far, but he has been the lynchpin of this team for years and has been instrumental to our team's success over the past five years.

He'll pick it up.

So, I guess the advancement scenarios are:

1) Portugal beats Ghana and we don't get smoked

2) Klinsmenn and Low collude and we tie Germany

3) Ghana beats Portugal by 1 and we win the goals for tiebreak

That about cover it?

Very unlikely scenario even if Germany plays their bench players. They are way better than us.

Hey Klinnsman, you know who wouldn't have missed a goal wide open 5 yards away? Landon Donovan.
I may be in the minority. But I really don't care that Donovan is at home, nor do I think there's any question that Bradley should play over Donovan. I'm pissed at how Bradley played, but he is our best player and a guy we have to start grooming as being a go to player.

He said advancement scenarios. It's an advancement scenario. Whether they're better than us or not is irrelevant.

The Germans could be forced to forfeit after the team is kidnapped by a group of Amazonians.

You are way off.

In fact, the USA beat a Germany team containing a lot of those bench players just last year.

He's not even remotely close to being the best player. Dempsey and Howard are the two best players on the team.

Hell right now I like our guys Besler and Zusi more. Both have made nice impacts. Zusi even took Bradley's **** up and turned it into an assist for our 2nd goal.

I think Bradley and Beasely are the most overrated players on the team. They both have been liabilities in this tournament.

Bradley has had a shit tournament, but he was really good in qualifying. His first half yesterday was actually really good, too. It was the second half that he was really terrible. Maybe he's exhausted. I dunno. But he's a good player for us, on average. This a bad time to have bad games.

Bradley is a stud. You are generalizing his entire career based on two mediocre-at-worst performances.

Again, Bradley is a stud and he will pick it up.

A friendly on US soil is way different than a WC in a foreign land.
