Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

I got it because I like having the knock down power of a 45..I have seen what 9 and 45 do to bodies..when it comes to my life on the line I want to make sure I can stop the person That being said you can have all the power in the world but if it isn't comfortable for you to shoot it does no good..if you can shoot them before you buy I would recommend it to see which recoil allows you to get a follow up shot off accurately the quickest |

I've wanted a 686 for years now. And in the past month and a half, I bought a new 686 4" barrel and a 686 Plus 3" barrel. Haven't had a chance to shoot the 3" yet, but the 4" is great. Shooting .38 Specials through that thing is a pleasure. Almost no recoil to the point that it feels like I'm shooting a 22 pistol. And its also the most accurate handgun I have. |

So this M855/SS109 ban... Is it 5.56 ammo in general, or a particular type of 5.56 ammo? Pardon my ignorance.

So far, its only going to be the M855/SS109. But its having a trickle down effect on all other 5.56. People are stocking up on XM193 and other available 5.56 while they can.

That's very true..I have shot 45 for years and have been able to manage the recoil better than most people..which is why I said that..I didn't know how much experience he had with a 45 so I didn't want to sell him short

I get what you are saying..I misused stopping power because I was typing fast and didn't think of the right word..ability to cause a larger wound cavity..is probably what I should of said |

The difference in expansion size (wound cavity) is less than a 1/10th of a millimeter. Thats such a negligible difference that the abilty to accurately apply more 9 rounds down range more than makes up for the very tiny size difference.
