Don't disagree......I was just remarking initially that leaving FL was not necessary. There are areas where the effects are not as dire and people can be safe in riding out the storm.

I'm wondering if it's not statistically safer to ride it out. How many highway deaths occur during all these panic induced evacuations? Unless you live in a trailer as far as wind damage goes odds are the worst you'll get is some damage to your roof. I've not seen houses shredded in hurricanes like what you see in a tornado, and I went thru a couple of hits in south TX growing up. Considering their size, not many deaths either.

no, could is different from this hurricane that is hundreds (at least) of miles wide though.

It's supposed to hit Tampa directly and brc is having a watch party.

It is wide, but the outer bands not as bad as near the eye wall or if you in the NE quadrant per what I was told anyway.

Well, at that time, it was shifting eastward, and we were only under a watch with weather prediction saying we'd only have 75 mile an hour winds or even 50 at one point. I think his party was a watch party. But hurricane parties do happen here each time one is predicted—believe it or not. Plus we've been spared so many times, often at the last minute with nothing happening, some have become skeptical until it's too late and some not even then.
