Geno Smith vs Alex Smith - It's on.

It's on now. Geno Smith is probably going to be starting for the Jets this season.

Alex Smith will be the Chiefs QB for the forseeable future. If he's a success, we'll probably get five good years out of him.

So who's gonna win more NFL games over that time period?

Put your ten pounders on the table and make a vote

Alex: 11 wins
Geno: 8 wins

Well that's fair, but having a full blown melt down on two forums because Alex Smith had an incompletion in a preseason game. That's a bit much.

Bad day for Geno, but he probably learned something from it. I'm positive he will take this poor day of practice and improve on it.
I hope he learns that if you are genuinely hurt, don't push it, it only makes things worse.

I wasn't melting down. You have no idea what a GoChiefs meltdown looks like.

Funny, people here say its no big deal he goes seven or more practices without an int.

Then all these guys make a big deal of him doing what most qbs in their rookie year do.

He has probably still thrown less than most guys in camps

Don't you sort of hate the corner you've painted yourself in? What I mean is, you'll still be happy if players like Alex or Dexter do something positive, but it will be a little bittersweet due to all the arguments and shit here. I get that its not that big a deal, but there is still gonna be a little piece of you that says "Ha!" If Alex throws a pick or has a Casselesque game. And likewise if he does well a tiny piece of you will say "****!"

Not particularly. I know that none of these wastoids are ever winning us a Super Bowl, so **** them all. In the mean time, poking fun at them amidst a legion of crying homers is a good time.

I think he's tired, like we're all tired, of the 40+ year drought. Alex Smith wouldn't be so bad, but it's just that we went just went through what feels like this before, with Matt Cassel. We gave up a steep payment in draft picks, and we get a very middle of the road Qb, which closes the door on us to draft and develop our own Qb for at least a few more seasons.

No way Alex Smith gets benched, unless he is absolutely dreadful, like Matt Cassel in years 3 & 4. But I think GoChiefs, like we all think that Alex Smith is not that bad, and that he will do just enough to keep his job and keep us in mediocrity.

When Alex Smith is done, we will be 3 years further away from our last championship, and we will be right back in the position we were 4 years ago, and the position we are in now. Now, we could luck the **** out with one of our backups and they turn into a Brady (a savior) but this is wishful thinking.

I (I don't know about GoChiefs) really want this Alex Smith thing to work, but gut instinct just doesn't foresee him winning a championship for us. Which is kind of they point of why the suit up, and is a jading reality...

What you're giving up on the Super Bowl already? The season hasn't even started yet man!

Yeah we aren't winning the Super Bowl.

It's that gut feeling pulling at you. It's that feeling of dread just like with the Royals, where you know unless they win the ****ing lottery of luck, they will not win a championship unless there are changes in the way the team is run and changes in the economic of baseball.

I get all of that and agree to an extent. On the other side, I don't know who else we could have acquired that would give us a better chance to win this year and next year with the nucleus of talent already present. I'm not a homer fool, but I think the possibility of Alex turning a corner with a new team and new coach is there. But like you said, lots of fans here are jaded with good reason and don't think that will happen. But hell, I'm gonna hang on to that hope and give Reid a shot with the guy he obviously thinks he can accomplish great things with.
