This will be my 2nd hurricane.....and the effects I had last year were minimal. I lost power for 45 minutes once during Hurricane Matthew and from what I hear that was only because of some repair work they were doing on a grid. It appears that the possibilities for where I live are much the same, except for possible higher winds and isolated tornado possibilities. I had more pain during floods and tornadoes in the Midwest...(not trying to jinx myself this time) |

Who wants to bet that it doesn't make that turn and "misses" Florida?

Good luck BRC and stay safe. With the eye potentially hitting Tampa directly if you have a chance you might reconsider. But either way my thoughts are with you and anyone else directly impacted by this

It's lining up to go right over my daughter's house in Fort Meyers. They just bought it in June.
This just really sucks. |

"Hurricane watch party" might be the most first world thing I've ever read.

Said this at the beginning of the thread, but may God bless everyone in its path, may you be safe, and hopefully very little damage to your belongings. 🙏

I've actually been to a couple. It's mostly about gathering in a place that is guaranteed to have electricity and beer available. These things always seem to come when it's really hot out, which also gives everyone a break from the heat.

I will say this, I'm a pretty stubborn guy. No weather stuff had ever really worried me, not much does.
BUT if they said a tornado would hit my house in a week i wouldn't be sitting there waiting on it. And i can also guarantee it's harder for me to go mobile with my family than it is for 99.9 percent of the population. |
