I grew up in a small town outside of KC for the first 30 years of my life....I lived thru a fire (caused by a lightning strike), 6 floods, and 2 tornadoes that either skirted our little town or went thru the outskirts. (Like you I have seen hundreds of watches and probably just as many warnings if not more)

This will be my 2nd hurricane.....and the effects I had last year were minimal. I lost power for 45 minutes once during Hurricane Matthew and from what I hear that was only because of some repair work they were doing on a grid. It appears that the possibilities for where I live are much the same, except for possible higher winds and isolated tornado possibilities.

I had more pain during floods and tornadoes in the Midwest...(not trying to jinx myself this time)

Who wants to bet that it doesn't make that turn and "misses" Florida?

Good luck BRC and stay safe. With the eye potentially hitting Tampa directly if you have a chance you might reconsider. But either way my thoughts are with you and anyone else directly impacted by this

It's lining up to go right over my daughter's house in Fort Meyers. They just bought it in June.

This just really sucks.

Tornado's spawn spontaneously, I get that....but the impending weather that brings them are things we see ahead of time.
when was the last time they put out mandatory evacuations for tornados?

Guarantee people don't have watch parties in that path of one either

I've actually been to a couple. It's mostly about gathering in a place that is guaranteed to have electricity and beer available. These things always seem to come when it's really hot out, which also gives everyone a break from the heat.

I will say this, I'm a pretty stubborn guy. No weather stuff had ever really worried me, not much does.

BUT if they said a tornado would hit my house in a week i wouldn't be sitting there waiting on it. And i can also guarantee it's harder for me to go mobile with my family than it is for 99.9 percent of the population.
