DayZ

With the DayZ standalone playable alpha release looming, I thought I would check out the mod version of the game. http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/

If you dont know, DayZ is an open world survival zombie game modification based off of the military sim ArmA 2 games. www.dayzmod.com

Basically its hardcore mode survival against zombies and even more dangerous, other players.

I have been watching vids for months and took advantage of a steam sale today to pick up ArmA 2.

Anyone playing DayZ right now? Servers? Thoughts? I have a teamspeak we can use!

Yep, H1Z1 is basically DayZ in the USA and it will be way way ****ing less buggy and way way more to do. They are going to fall way behind. Yes, there will always the the hardcore fans that will stick with it through thick and thin, but if you can play another game thats free or cheaper and pretty much the same with with more, then why stick around?

H1Z1 could be the best thing to happen to DayZ though, they either step it up or well you all made some nice cash off alpha.

DayZ has sold over $2 million units, at $30 a pop, that's $60 million dollars. I think they have something like a team of 150 people working on the game, H1Z1 has like 25 last I heard.

H1Z1 isnt going to pass up DayZ, they are only trying to bank on it's popularity.

Too busy to link to it, and it may have been mentioned in here, but DayZ is throwing out the old out dated engine, and bringing in a new one.

H1Z1 is coming to Steam soon.

I will be honest, Dayz takes a lot of time to get into, which is something I don't have. Even though it would be less realistic I would like more action.

The server will hold alot more then 40, i would bet they would hold about 1-2 thousand people at a time, the maps are the size of the Planetside 2 maps. Which means they are freaking huge, thats just to start, they will constantly add to that as well. Like they said, they are starting with basically north west american, then they will go from there.

It cant hurt to try it for 20 bucks, i know every one of us here has played AAA titles that paid 65 bucks for to only play for a day or 2 and never play again. lol Im rooting for DayZ, but they have to get their shit together. I love the Russian/Czech setting.

Hometeam are you going to jump ship with the rest of us when H1Z1 releases?

We could actually interact with other players AND run into zombie hordes.

I don't get the hype behind H1Z1 right now. Especially saying it looks more fun. The game is completely bare bones and we haven't seen anything yet that proves it will be better.

DayZ is also incomplete, but at least it has a year of polish on it already.
