@jessenewell: Cliff Alexander on ESPNU, talking about Embiid: "If somebody tells me I'm going to be the No. 1 pick, I'm going to go into the draft ... "
@jessenewell: (2/3) Alexander on ESPNU: "I kind of knew it, so that's why we're working on Myles right now, to fill in his spot, so I can play the 4 ... " @jessenewell: (3/3) Alexander on ESPNU: " ... and Kelly at the 3. We're going to do some great things next year."

You gotta feel for the kid. He works hard, he drastically changed his body from freshman to sophomore year and he was just overshadowed by the biggest recruit since Kevin Durant. If I was in his shoes, and didn't grow up a KU fan, I would have been gone yesterday. And I won't fault him at all if he decides to transfer.

It's a bleacher report guy so it's no surprise that it's awful. He took that quote out of context. Turner was asked to break down how he fits in with each team he's considering and he spoke like that with every team envisioning himself with them and what he likes about them all. He should get in trouble for this but it's bleacher report so he won't. He's even getting blasted by UT fans on twitter.

Texas is loaded with bigs that are all coming back next year. Kansas = better, fit, better coaching, better fan support. It has to suck to be a basketball player in Texas showing up to play in half-empty arenas for home games.

We are also loaded with bigs. We'll be fine without him, but I'd sure love to have him.

LAWRENCE — Kansas coach Bill Self called up each of his assistant coaches following the national championship game last week.
His message? It’s time to move on from this year. “The 2014-15 season has officially started, and you guys can get excited about it,” Self told 660 KU supporters at the team’s awards banquet Tuesday. “We’ve lost some good players, but you know what? We’ve lost some good players in the past.” Though KU’s season ended with disappointment following a round of 32 loss to Stanford, the future still appears to be bright, as the Jayhawks are ranked in the top five of nearly every early preseason poll for the 2014-15 season. During the awards banquet, Self introduced each of his players individually before having them come to the front of the room to be recognized. Here are a few comments that stood out: ■ On freshman guard Conner Frankamp: “He can shoot that ball, but he’s also a good player, and we’ll see that more and more going forward.” ■ On freshman small forward Brannen Greene: “I think he could be a pro. I think he could be an NBA player in time. He’s certainly a guy that didn’t get the chance to play a lot this year, but certainly is very, very talented." ■ On freshman guard Frank Mason: “He played quite a bit this year, but I don’t think anybody’s really seen what he can do. He has a chance to be a special player.” ■ On sophomore transfer forward Hunter Mickelson: “These guys will tell you he can really, really shoot the ball.” When asked afterwards what excited him most for next season, Self singled out those four players again. “They’re so much better than what people have seen,” Self said. “We’ve got good players in the gym right now. Then you add Kelly (Oubre) and you add Cliff (Alexander), and hopefully we’ll be able to add maybe another piece or two moving forward. It’s not done yet, but there’s no reason why next year’s team can’t be — I don’t want to say as talented, because when you have maybe the No. 1 and 2 picks in the draft, it’s hard to be as talented — but next year’s team could be better if things fall right.” MYLES TURNER SETS ANNOUNCEMENT DATE — Six-foot-10 center Myles Turner, the top remaining unsigned player in the class of 2014, announced Wednesday that he will make his choice at 4 p.m. on April 30. The ceremony will be televised on ESPNU. Turner, the sixth-ranked player in his class according to Rivals.com, is expected to choose either Kansas, Texas or SMU. “All eyes are on you, so every move you take, anything you tweet, anything you say, people really pay attention to it,” Turner said during an ESPNU interview Wednesday. “I’ve had a lot of fun with it, just being the center of attention. Everybody thinks I’m a little drama queen with all this, but that’s definitely not the case. I just want to make the right decision.” Later in the ESPNU broadcast, the KU signee Alexander made reference to Turner when he was asked about the departure of KU center Joel Embiid to the NBA. “If somebody tells me that I’m the No. 1 pick, then I’m going to go into the draft,” Alexander said. “So that’s why we’re working on Myles right now to fill in his spot so I can play the 4, and Kelly at the 3 … we’re going to do some great things next year.” Fellow KU signee Oubre also said he’d talked recently with Turner. “I don’t want to put that much pressure on him to pick one school, because I wanted to let him know that I’m going to be cool with him even if he doesn’t pick Kansas,” Oubre said. “But I told him, most importantly, we need him at Kansas. We want him at Kansas. That’s the move that he should make to better his future.” COURSEWORK COMPLETED — Self confirmed Wednesday night that players Andrew Wiggins and Embiid were free to travel wherever needed for workouts, as they had already completed their academic requirements at KU. “We’ve told them as soon as the season ended, even with Jo, ‘Hey, you’re going to get with your teachers,’ and we got with their teachers, and they gave them what they need to do with us. That way, they can complete their stuff,” Self said. “They basically have fulfilled their academic responsibility by (Tuesday). So if they decide to stay the rest of the semester, that’s great. If their agent says they want them to go to California to start working out, that’s great. We just know we’ve got that covered.” Self said both Wiggins and Embiid completed 36 credit hours during their freshman seasons. http://m.cjonline.com/sports/2014-04...es-turner-sets
