A little while ago you were slamming me as if I made up that comment and that you wouldn't say such a thing.

Which one is it?

If you actually believe Alex Smith is equal to Matt Ryan, everything you post regarding football should be quickly disregarded.

But, go ahead and bring up Stanzi again.

It might be funny this time.

Flacco, yes. I'm not seeing what you guys see in Ryan. He's got elite receivers and still hasn't done anything special.

If Koetter doesn't shit can that offense in the 2nd half against the 9ers, I think the Falcons win that one.

But they didn't.

In the end though, I don't think Matt Ryan is the problem in Atlanta, but you can't say he needs more weapons. He's gotta win in the postseason before you crown him anything.

It's weird though, in that I think he's a much better QB than Flacco, but Flacco makes plays and wins in the playoffs. Although there is probably an argument in there somewhere that Flacco has had better defenses to make plays for his team in the playoffs.

No no no.

The all time leader in wins over his first 5 seasons is barely equal to the great Alex Smith and Jake Long has as much impact towards wins and losses as Matt Ryan.

Back to real life though, Matt Ryan is probably one of the best 5-6 quarterbacks in the NFL and I'd give up "whatever it takes" if there was a chance at trading for him while paying him 20 million per year WITHOUT HESITATION.

Flacco is not even close to as talented a QB as Ryan, and we do have to use statistics to make this case.

Granted, Flacco certainly has the "it" thing going on, because he's won a lot since coming into the league; he's no scrub. Franchise QB.

But Ryan is just now entering his prime, and I'm confident that he'll post unbelievable numbers, with a shit ton of wins, over the next three years. No, he's not quite Rodgers, but he sure as hell isn't far off.

I make that comment with no reservation.

In 2 years, he might be higher.

The dude holds the record for wins in a quarterbacks first 5 seasons and got 23 of those 56 wins ON GAME WINNING DRIVES. 17 were fourth quarter comebacks.

He has gotten better every year and I'd be shocked if he doesn't end up in the HOF when he decides to hang em up.

I see Ryan as a Trent Green, Matt Schaub type of QB. He is capable of lots of wins as long as he has plenty of talent around him. He can't manufacture wins and he's rarely put his team on his shoulders and come up with a big win against another good football team. His playoff record speaks for itself, as does Flacco's.

Once again, he's a very good QB but has yet to prove that he's Elite, IMO.

So, you were admittedly being disingenuous a little while ago? Way to stand up and finally own it.

I don't flip flop often, I develop my own opinions and stand by them. Doing that means that I will have some swings and misses over the years.

The fact that you have to keep coming back to Stanzi is funny to me. It's not that I think I should get a pass...unlike yourself and Mecca, I am man enough to own up to my failures equally with my successes...it's that you obviously don't have much more material to resort to.

Don't stop.

RARELY PUT HIS TEAM ON HIS SHOULDERS AND TOOK OVER GAMES???

HE HAS 23 GAME WINNING DRIVES IN HIS FIRST 5 SEASONS.

In the playoffs, Joe Flaccos defense has held teams to an average of 18 points per game.

Matt Ryans defense has averaged giving up 32 points in postseason play.

That might make a difference, ya know.

This is why bland stats are annoying. Just from looking at that, then yes, Ryan's been ****ed over by his D. However, (and I have no idea as to the validity of this, im merely making an example), you'd really have to look at each drove and the turnover/short drive/3&out rates. It could be that Ryan continually put his defense in shitty positions. Or it could not be.

Stats with context, that's how we improve.
