Just watched "Buried." That was a ballsy movie to make both by the filmmaker and by Ryan Reynolds. I liked it.

I finally got around to watching Due Date. Due date is the classic "it" comedy of the season. The one film that tries to cater to a lighthearted audience while satirizing commercial issues (TSA airport security, border control, medical marijuana to name a few). With director Todd Phillips (Old school, Hangover) you know what to expect, and you're usually eager to take a load off and hope for a good laugh. Due date stars the typical paradoxical duo, the farcical adolescent role is Ethan Tremblay (played by Zack Galifianakis)and his polar opposite, Peter Highman (Robert Downey Jr.). This film is typical in almost everyway, but it serves its purpose well because of the struggle and resistance from Downey, who plays the anchor to the film, to foil Glaifianakis at every turn. Its frustrating to see that comedy has yet to evolve from the overtly infantile and boneheaded character, but Galfianakis still strikes enough of the right chords to trigger a laugh. Playing essentially the same character as in the hangover, his oddball ways are still charming for the moment, but its fading quite rapidly. It's also nice to see Robert Downey Jr. and Michelle Monaghan reunited as the expecting couple (they were love interests in "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang") and Jaime Foxx and The RZA make quick and comical cameos. Due Date is a funny, sometimes heart warming, borderline slapstick comedy that does a fine job cashing in on the ilk of Apoatow humor. It may not be a great film but its a guilty pleasure I don't mind indulging in.

Adventureland was mildly amusing. I think I liked Bill Hader more than anything.

Watched King Corn last night, a documentary about the corn industry. The first 15 minutes are on youtube, after watching that I had to see the rest. The film makers did a good job of educating the viewer on the process of growing it, selling it, where it goes, etc. They did a good job of making it entertaining and speaking very candidly with the actual farmers growing the crop, getting their opinions on the industry. Earl Butz, the man who is pretty much single handedly responsible for the American diet consisting almost entirely of corn, makes an appearance in the end.

Source Code isn't out for another week and a half. It's getting generally favorable reviews so far, though (83% fresh on RT).

Probably been posted in the 442 pages that I refuse to search......But caught "The Losers" on HBO and was pleasantly suprised. Course I was a six pack in and ready for an action flick - but I had never even heard of this movie. Entertaining w/hot chick... I'd give it a solid 7. Ask for the rating completely sober......hmmmm...
