Didn't you know that our BP has to be perfect 100% of the time? If not, then DFA.

That was a fun game to go to... until the 8th inning. Oh well, they only cost $11/ticket. Glad this game wasn't on Saturday when they are going for $100+

The sad thing is if they lose in the first round of the playoffs because baseball, the doom and gloomers will continue missing the point and say "we told you so! /derp".

With 48 games to go, the Royals, after being "cold" by their standards (IE playing .500 ball for a stretch, then dropping two fluky games after they got rolling again), remain 5 games up for the number one seed and 11 games up in the division race.

-his ERA is now 4.15 and his whIP is 1.47. Both are double his numbers of the past 2 years. Not above, but double -his advanced metrics (FIP, Sierra, etc) show identical declines -his avg FB velocity is down 1.8mph. It was 7.1 runs above avg last year and is -1.3 below now. -his secondary stuff (slider + split) show the same type of decline Holland is a problem and don't thing for a second they're not sitting around talking about him right now as I type this |

While my initial inclination is to believe that Holland isn't 100% healthy - I can't really be sure (and maybe that's by design on Ned's part), because we haven't automatically seen HDH past the 6 inning in the past month. Those guys (at least in my mind) haven't been used consistently in their typical roles as of late. Ned is obviously going to err on the side of resting guys this year, so they're ready for the post season. I get that. I do start to mentally "white knuckle" it a bit when they drop a few games in a row - as I've seen huge leads (in other KC sports genres) evaporate quickly. I get what Ned's trying to do with respect to protecting the bullpen, but part of me wants to treat every game like a one game playoff (again, a by product of KC Sports fan PTSD). |

If my memory serves me we had bases loaded no outs and couldnt push across a run. Then 2nd and 3rd 1 out not a run crossed the plate. If we just get 2 runs out of that we win by one. Im not a bit worried about our bullpen. I worry about moving runners and getting wood on the ball to simply sacrifice a guy home. We are sacks of shit at this and have been all season long.

Out of 162 games, 1 crappy outing is about the equivalent to having a bad series on one possession in a single game. Obviously, it's not a perfect translation of equivalents, but if you make a change so quickly what does that say to the entire team? You want the team to possibly play tighter under the perception that the coaches will make brash changes off one bad game? Performance has a very real mental component. Instilling confidence is vital. It was key in Escobar's failure to eventual growth. The same confidence that everyone freaked out about batting Moose 2nd. To tell him that they believed he had the talent to take on the added responsibility. The power of support and positive reinforcement has transitive potential for realized improvement and success. Constructive criticism is beneficial for targeted change of action- not sweeping shifts in one's role, value, and responsibilities. Let the coaches earn their paycheck, and breakdown what is different from his previous success in order to affect the change in returning to form. Punishment will never yield what rehabilitation can inspire in improvement.

Oh and for his "numbers" to be worse, the only one that matters for a closer is converting the save.
Talk about this when he's possibly blown another save or 2.
