Nolan's Batman 3 Title
Batman sequel 'Rises' again
LOS ANGELES - THE next Batman sequel has a title: The Dark Knight Rises. Distributor Warner Bros. confirmed the name for director Christopher Nolan's third adventure about the DC Comics vigilante hero, which follows Batman Begins in 2005 and The Dark Knight in 2008. The Dark Knight Rises is due in theaters July 20, 2012. Bucking Hollywood's current wave of 3-D movies, Nolan is not planning to shoot the film in 3-D. Warner Bros had agreed with Nolan's argument that the sequel should resist the 3-D craze, the director told the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex blog, which first reported the title. Nolan would not reveal what villain might appear in The Dark Knight Rises, but he said it would not be the Riddler, one of the key bad guys in the comics and past film and TV Batman tales. Earlier this year, Nolan said he would not resurrect the Joker, the cackling villain played by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Ledger won the supporting-actor Academy Award for the role, a year after he died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. -- AP |

The fact that burton has open contempt for the character and the Batman mythos really soured me on his films. He hates those movies. He hates batman. He hates comic books. It's no wonder he's always putting that self important douche Depp in all of his films. He did make one of my all time favorite movies (big fish), but he's still an asshole. |

Burton & Shumacher can go get ****ed, as far as i'm concerned.
Its a Nolan Landslide in my mind, and thats coming from a guy who paid to see those other turds several times & wore them all out at home to boot, ate'em up... but i simply didnt know, what i did not know... after Batman Begins, they simply ceased to exist for me. |

Might feel the same way about Nolan's in 20 years, after it's been rebooted again with something new and awesome, but I suspect not. They're better movies, and they stand up as movies, rather than just "comic book movies". |

I would imagine its a very tough thing to do, getting a comic hero movie 'right'... you (usually) have to have the kids onboard to succeed, but if you can Ace it like Nolan, or Snyder with Watchen, it can totally stand on its own merit with adults. |

The original superman is unwatchable for me now. It's so unbelievably saccharine. Maybe as I get older I get more cynical, but as my age goes up, my ability to stomach corny stuff goes down. |

And as i think about it, Donner actually got Clark Kent/alter ego mostly right... it was the camp of Lex Luthor & Beattys idiot henchman that ruined it, and what a shame, Hackman could've spit FIRE given a meaty, more serious villain to confront Chris Reeve with.

I still love the first two Superman movies. Will never tire of them. But, I do agree that Luther should not have been used as the comic relief of the movie.

I'll still watch the second one, especially Donner's cut.

Guys, Superman II is infinitely better than Superman I. Which is infinitely better than Superman Returns.
