Still can't quite believe this is actually happening...
But Maclin getting more money than Cobb doesn't surprise me... he's a bigger, more versatile receiver and has had success with a variety of QBs. Not as explosive or as good at making guys miss as Cobb, but still above average in those regards. He's also the best fit, IMO, they're going to find with a FA receiver. He'll be just 27 years old this season, and he should be basically plug-and-play because of his familiarity with Reid and his system. Pair Maclin with Kelce, an improved Albert Wilson, and a high pick spent on a receiving option, and you've got the huge upgrade to the receiving corps people have been clamoring for.

Right, people are forgetting he had much higher offers elsewhere.

Also, I doubt they will but I'd add one more receiver in free agency like Cecil Shorts. |

This is a nice consolation prize to waking up on a Monday feeling like shit.
I'll go Joey Chestnut on a crow buffet. I thought there was no chance Maclin would sign here. The only downside is that it looks like a near certainty that Hudson is gone, which was part of the cap problem. You can't keep Hudson, Houston, and get an impact FA. |

This all-but-guarantees the Chiefs are taking an OL in the first. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't take a WR until day three.

Problem with signing a second WR like a Shorts or a Hartline would be you'd likely not see value on the field that matches the cap number.

It's certainly possible they consider adding another, but given the team's struggles in blocking and given that they are losing three starters (including their best player on the line), I'd bet that they throw a lot of numbers at the position, especially given Reid's history at targeting the lines in the first round.

Overpay Alex to suck behind a shit OL....
Overpay Maclin to suck behind a QB behind a shit OL... Hmmm... intriguing.... ... No, I like what they are doing. They have to bring in a good vet OL or draft a couple of OL in the first 2 days of the draft.. and pray that they can quickly contribute.
