Apparently, Wilson had been suffering from a training camp injury and wasn't 100% until the final four games of the season. I would imagine that even in that limited playing time, he gained some meaningful experienced and really flashed talent.

If he can continue that course, a 60 catch, 800 yard WR with speed that's already on the roster would be a very welcome sight.

He's had a few great games along the way but he hasn't been consistently outstanding since 2010.

Yea I never said he sucks but he's a #2 WR getting paid like a top 5 WR. With a cash strapped team that's a problem. Especially with a guy who's going to be on the wrong side of 30.

There is no doubt that he needs to take a major, major pay cut.

I don't blame Dorsey & Reid for locking him up but after the first year, the contract should have significantly decreased and because it increased, the Chiefs will take a major cap charge whether he's cut or restructured.

It doesn't look like there's any way out of it.

My guess is no, we'll complain that he's not getting open, or dropping too many passes, or how he's just not a number one, and how he's overpaid, and what a mistake it was, and who can we bring in in 2016 that fits what Alex Smith does.

Of course I would assume that it's a moot point, that Green Bay will keep him, and even if they don't we aren't going to be willing to pay that much.
Over a 16 game season, Wilsons stats project to over 1000 yards. And if we say that Cobb is a better version of him, then we can expect even better production.

For a UDFA, Wilson showed a lot of promise the last few weeks, don't you agree? And no one has said Bowe sucks shit, he just isn't a #1 receiver at this point of his career.

It would also be the greatest career start for a UDFA receiver in league if he does that in the next two or three seasons by a big margin.

Sure, if you want to blissfully ignore the fact that Alex Smith is the quarterback.

Anybody can cherry pick a short string of games and project that out. Between weeks 7 and 10 Bowe caught 25 passes for nearly 300 yards. Does that mean he projects out to a 100-catch, 1200-yard receiver with Alex Smith?

No. It means he had a good month.

Along a similar line, trying to characterize Albert Wilson's 3-game stretch, where he caught all of 12 passes for @200 yards, as 'outperforming Bowe' is really sidestepping the fact that that's really not all that impressive a stretch of games for Wilson.

Let me rephrase that: it IS an impressive stretch for Wilson. It would not be an impressive stretch for a top quarterback throwing to a top receiver. That's like a phenomenal game for Megatron.

The fact that anyone is trying to use such a modest performance to artificially prop up Alex Smith's ability to get the ball to a receiver - which is where this little tangent started - is a sign of just how desperate people are to find a positive spin to the shituation in which we currently find ourselves.

If cut as a June 1 designation, KC saves 9.5 million.

He has 9m in dead money left from his signing bonus and has a cap hit of 14m. That 9 cuts in half if used as june1 designation clearing 9.5 off this years cap.

Unless he agrees to a big paycut...he's gone.

Wilson would have had more yards if Alex didn't overthrow him on a couple deep passes that he broke wide open.

Every single year this board gets fixated on a couple of free agents, and every single year this board is disappointed... Cobb isn't leaving Wisconsin, and if he does, he isn't coming to KC.

They're going to sign a second tier guy and draft a couple of others, everyone is setting themselves up for a big fall hoping for some big name receiver.

At best, they'll grab another decent tight end to pair with Kelce.
