Just did some reading up on sepsis, or blood poisoning from infections like staph. Sounds like the 3 different IV antibiotics is par for the course, as is the multi day ICU stint.
Were any organs infected as well? Is everything else functioning alright?

I don't know but they are going to stick a tube down my throat today to get a look at my heart. That sounds weird since the esophagus has no windows or open spots to peek through.

I felt very weak today since I was not allowed to eat before the TEE, a tube they stick down your throat to sonogram the heart. I finally got that done after 2 pm. Great news! I have no infections on my heart valves. Things would have been much more complicated had that been the case. Now I am getting my grub on at last and that energy boost is helping me greatly. Starve me, will they?

I am so sorry she had to suffer so much with that. I have no children but I knw nothing is worse than losing them or having them in health crises. She's fine now, I hope!

My mom had that. It kept her from ever seeing her grand son. Stay strong brother!

Yeah, that infection is nasty. I will be on IV antibiotics for 2 weeks, meaning I'll have to receive them at home, too... if they let me out of here. Now I heard it might be Monday before I get to go. The wound in my chest from the port removal is a concern since they have it packed and that is to draw the infection out. If it were sealed now, then I'd still have that gunk in there and it would fester again. There are no naughty nurses here and it's just as well... this infection has me bad off. I go for a leak and the poor boy looks like a scared turtle. One bit of good news from today I guess is since I had a massive nosebleed after just blowing my nose, they didn't give me another blood thinner shot in the stomach. I did not care much for the first one. It felt like the needle was still in me for about a minute after she took it out and even showed me it was out. And a bit of humor today, after my shower, I had my leads on my chest changed. It hurt so damned bad pulling out tufts of chest hair, I had to lie down! I was feeling like I might pass out. The nurse was tugging at one and stopping and asked me to do it, so I ripped it off and before I could say "wait" so I could catch my breath, she yanked another off and that was when I saw spots and got the sweat running. Once I got into the bed, it was better. Still hurt, though, but with my feet up, I kept the blood back up north and stayed conscious.
