****Official 2013-14 Missouri Tiger Football Repository Thread****

We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

8/31: Murray State
9/7: Toledo
9/21: @ Indiana
9/28: Arkansas State
10/5:@ Vanderbilt
10/12: @ Georgia
10/19:Florida
10/26: South Carolina
11/2:Tennessee
11/9: @ Kentucky
11/23: @ Ole Miss
11/30: aTm

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Razors, cyanide capsules, and Jonestown Kool-Aid are available in the break room. Second door on the left.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

Premium In-State Players:

Roderick Johnson: **** OT, Florissant, MO.
Monte Harrison: **** WR, Lee's Summit, MO.
Jimmy Swain: **** LB, Lee's Summit, MO

Commitment List: From to and possibly

Spoiler!

Sacrificing Texas to make in-roads in the south was stupid as hell.

The correct move, IMO, was to keep the base they'd established in Texas while trying to pluck players from border states--guys who are normally Big Ten bound but would get a chance to stay close to home and play in the premier football league in the country.

Instead, Pinkel wants the eighth tier players from Florida and Georgia so that we can eventually get fifth tier players.

I have no love for Pinkel. This thread just keeps laying the bricks.

One of the dudes we just picked up won MVP at a camp at a Rivals camp and they think other offers are soon to follow. As for sacrificing Texas, we still have some reach there but the SEC states produce more football talent than most. Kids in Florida and Georgia, even if they are not tier one kids, are pretty polished and play year round. The Wilson kid we just got has a pretty decent offer list as does Nate Brown. I like the new recruiting and think in the long run it will pay off big.

For a time, MU was producing quite a bit of NFL-bound talent. I would say that Hamas is probably right, and that the coaching is just plain shit.

Is Pinkel dead yet?

How about locking down in-state talent? There's a junior Nixa RB that's getting some serious looks and will probably not be playing in Columbia when 2015 rolls around.

Texas produces more D1 talent than any other state. It may not have the speed that Florida does, but the size is without comparison.

Not to pile on the instate flight: but what's the story on Rafe Peavey? Arkansas people seem to be excited about him coming here, but I don't really know anything about him. Is Mizzou not interested in him as a QB prospect?

They offered him, but he reaffirmed his commitment to Arkansas back in July. He's the same caliber recruit as Franklin with better offers. Theoretically he's a perfect fit for the Missouri offense.

Do you guys think we should hold off a year on firing Pinkel? I've been one of the main supporters of wanting his ass out of here ASAP but with all those big time job openings I don't think it's wise to get rid of him just yet, we might get stuck with someone worse. What a bad spot we're in, I mean ****.

By shear population they are going to produce more. Some of those are 2 star kids that are getting D1 offers as well. What is interesting is that if we only look at three star or better players they numbers are pretty close in most years.

2014
Texas 150
Florida 180

2013
Texas 199
Florida 219

2012
Texas 273
Florida 254

2011
Texas 272
Florida 243

I think there is value in moving our main recruiting base to the Geogia/Florida area as long as we continue to supplement with some Texas kids. We will always have some draw to them due to geography. We just really need to start locking down the top talent in Missouri. I am talking the four and five star kids.

Here's the other thing to consider:

Who are the elite programs that draw primarily from Texas? Oklahoma, Texas, aTm. Okie State is a notch above Missouri as well, but there is still plenty of second tier talent for Missouri to build the backbone of their team from Texas.

Who are the elite programs that draw from Florida? Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, FSU, with teams like Ole Miss, Miami, South Carolina, Auburn, and Clemson drawing very good talent as well.

We had established pipelines in Texas and severed them to build pipelines in states that are harder to enter and establish. Missouri has a better shot of getting 4* kids from its border states than Florida or Georgia, and if it needed to it could have used those states as a secondary recruiting area.

Did MU completely sever ties with Texas or just move some recruiters from TX to other states in the SEC footprint? I have no idea either way, but not putting guys in southern states would be a mistake IMO and sacrificing some of TX is where that would have to happen.

Yep.

Strange how the local schools haven't offered him. His size and numbers are just plain crazy. I suppose that COULD change, but like I said - you'd think the local schools would want to go after the local legit talent.

These two guys we just got from Georgia are both legit.
Again, I just don't get it. Nice grab on the Georgia guys, though.
