Sounds like Jeremy Maclin got that $11 million per year, or close to it, he was looking for. Source says more than Randall Cobb ($10 mil).

Maclin is the best option in the free agent WR market to potentially fill the role of a #1 WR that the Chiefs need. The Chiefs were going to have to pay (maybe even overpay) to land Maclin in a market where he was the best WR available with Cobb off the board.

Are there risks? Of course, but given his history with Reid, given the fact he had a career year last year, coming off a major knee injury and playing with Mark Sanchez, I think it is a calculated risk.

I'm fine with it. Pretty much a guarantee that Bowe is gone now though.

IMHO I'm not thrilled about this pickup. He's a good player but for the money he commands, his style isn't what this offense needs. We already have plenty of "manufacture to get open in space" type of guys like Kelce and DAT.. they needed to get a true #1 who can run routes and beat man coverage. Reid/Philly traded up in the first round of the draft to get him, so I'd say he fits the offense rather well...at least from Reid's perspective. He can run long routes, but his bread and butter in college was YAC. Taking a 3 yard bubble screen pass for 70...he did it often.

Guess that's the going rate in today's inflated FA market. Younger than Bowe and a better fit for the offense, as well as a little bit cheaper. No complaints here.

everyone overpays in FA...that's the 'price' for bidding in an open market for production versus rolling the dice on a draft pick

if we're going to do it, it would be hard to find a more justified instance than this...he's exactly what we need, he's 26, he's worked with reid, and it 'looks' like his best years are ahead of him
