My Dog has Cancer

This is the dog who broke his femur bone at a pet hotel. His biopsy came back as positive for osteosarcoma which is bone cancer. He now has to go back to have his leg amputated. Not only is he going to lose his leg the doctor is only giving him 3 to 9 months to live. This is a very aggressive form of bone cancer.
The pet hotel is still going to pay for the first surgery he had to repair his leg but now it's coming off.

My best friend of 14.5 years died in my arms at home last Sunday at 12:30 PM. I tried CPR.

Had cancer taken out in April. Vet said it would be about 6-9 months till she's gone. Guess they were right.

Long story short. I wish I would have listened to my heart instead of my vet. I would have preferred her passing peacefully a week earlier when I discussed it with my vet instead of the heartache I went through. It would have saved me $400 in bladder biopsy too.

Sucks so much when your best friend is nearing the end of their life. You, and your best friend, know it is getting close. You try not to think about it, but in the back of your mind you know its coming.

Spend lots of time with your pups, and give lots of loves. Neither of you will regret it.

To alleviate your concerns about the surgery a bit, my friends dog had cancer in the rear leg, got it amputated, and it was like she was a puppy again with the energy she regained. Unfortunately by that point it had spread too much so it was only a matter of time but it's not even close to a guarantee that having the amputation done will diminish your dogs quality of life.

I am not worried about him being on 3 legs.

He is a hardhead beagle who thinks he is superman and can do anything.

I was already told that him having bone cancer and it has already spread and will grow in other areas as soon as his leg is taken.

Just so hard to know that I will have to take him to a vet and have my best friend and co-worker asleep within 180 days or sooner.

He's a very lucky dog to be in your family. Godspeed and good luck to all of you.
