For a few months my best friend was stationed at Langley AFB in Newport News while my ship was in Norfolk. I took him on a tour of the ship once and showed him the berthing compartment. He was horrified. In the barracks at his base he had a room to himself and shared a bathroom with one other guy. To get a one-person stateroom on my ship you had to be department head level officer, and they were still a third the size of his room. I believe he was an E-2 at the time. Pampered pricks. |

I also have a Sleep Number, best sleep ever & I fall asleep quicker than ever. The only bad thing is it makes staying hotels a problem, because all other mattresses suck.

I tried one of those sleep number beds before I purchased the Tempurpedic. The biggest issue I had with them was the median in the middle of the bed. That part was annoying to the point I couldn't justify the purchase.

It's probably too late for you to become an astronaut - you might sleep well in space.

Warranty was pretty awkward too and the idea of a pump failing and having one side of the bed being saggy shit didn't sound very interesting. |

It's probably just an optical illusion, but it seems like the bottom bunk doesn't have as much head room as the others.
At that height, I can see why the middle bunks might be most popular. I assumed they'd be taller. But I'd still go for the lower one. It looks very private down there. On my freighter I had a regular bed. It was pretty nice once the sea calmed down, but there were a few rough nights and on the worst one, it was all I could do to not get pitched out. I didn't sleep much that night.

I to recently went through a bed saga with my lady. Gave my old bed to my nephew after my lady and I moved in together. Her newer bed was killing my shoulder. So we decided to purchase a new one. My old mattress was an airloom and it was great. They are expensive so we decided to try a cheaper unit. That didn’t go over very well.
The $800 Sleepzy mattress from mattress firm didn’t work for the lady so they took it back no charge We tried an online unit (my green mattress) and it was ok. We sent it back no charge. That mattress came through ups. I finally ponied up $3500 for an airloom which was on sale from $6500. We got that unit on sale through Macy’s. It’s made by airloom but they call it hotel collection Vitagenic. It’s a pillow top and the coils are connected together (like old school beds). Seems everything on the market is individual coils which I don’t care for. It also has latex inside. After shopping for a mattress for months I kept coming back to the Macy’s airloom bed. Good luck OP. |

If you’re ever shopping for a mattress I’ve learned for some reason the best sales are on Presidents Day. Getting a King for the price of a Queen is the big deal. We got ours for $999 and they threw in some stuff that we didn’t need. Our last mattress was around $2500 I think
