None of us know for sure why Jones decided to start playing again. But I'd bet the benching of Peters had something to do with it.

Getting a semblance of a pass rush helped tremendously, no doubt. That's a plus no matter who's in the secondary.

The D started out playing with fire as a unit, the whole defense.

Did they keep it up the whole game, no.

But to say the benching of Peters didn't get their attention and improve moral would be disingenuous IMO.

There were other big differences. Did Logan even play? Jenkins was far superior. Also, DJ hardly played and Pierre Lewis was an obvious upgrade. Terrell is also much better than Murray. The guys that were in there wants to be there for sure.

Anyone notice Berry on the sidelines? I don't think it had any real effect on the D but it was cool to see. Probably pumped some of our guys up.

Yes. Do you watch these other teams? They all have HUGE warts. Chargers have not beaten a single quality team and have benefited facing average teams with key injuries.

The difference was the pass rush. In the Chiefs losing streak they only had 7 sacks. They had 3 yesterday.

Jarvis Jenkins, Chris Jones, Allen Bailey and Tamba Hali all showed up and it made all the difference. Raiders couldn't single out one particular player to double bc all of them were beasting.

And this is what the focus needs to be in the offseason. Veach needs to target multiple pass rushers to add to this unit.

That's part of it but not the whole story. The Jets had numerous plays where they threw to slants in a matter of seconds. The whole D played better.
