Hamstring, I don't wish concussions on anyone.

Well except Vontaze Burfict, Von Miller, and most of the Raiders team.

That's where I am. I'm certainly more excited to watch once 2PM comes in and that has pushed me towards wanting him to start. But, his footwork really needs to develop. I'm not sure how much we know about his work in the pocket due to the terrible backups, but I'm guessing he could use work there as well. We're in a great position to be patient due to Alex Smith. I don't love him, but he allows us to develop 2PM.

Just sit back and relax. Dont get too emotionally invested in this team. Next year will be the target year to make some playoff noise and likely the decade after.

I'm not hoping for it but it would make the decision a lot easier as well as take pressure off both the staff and Mahomes himself.

Based off the small amount we've seen, it's probably not in Smith's best interest to miss 2 games mid season if he plans on playing all year. In that situation ifMahomes shows he can read zone and not turn the ball over that's all she wrote.

This. Nothing matters this year but his development... Hopefully at our bye week he starts and we never look back.

95% of the folks talking about footwork know absolutely dick about the subject. They just parrot what someone else says to fit in on a discussion board.

I promise you that this 95% group has never taught it or fully understand it.

I'm no QB expert, but I understand the mechanics enough to know the advantage of stepping into a throw (toward the desired target). That's not even football specific. Patrick doesn't do this nearly enough. He's gotten away with it, but throwing with your feet parallel to the LOS is going to cost him at some point.

A better example of "parrots" would be discussions regarding players hips, IMO.

Mahomes needs reps with the #1 OL pass blocking for him. It's way too easy to fall back into bad habits when the OL is a turnstyle.

Right now, Drew Bledsoe and Tony Romo are calling Alex to say "Hey bud, whatever you do... don't get injured, don't even take a chance on getting knocked out of the game for a quarter."

Don't know that there are many QBs in the league that can do this. Yeesh.

And footwork in the pocket is all about repeating a motion which leads to increased accuracy. The reason Brees and Brady are so accurate is because of the repeatability of their motion.

Guys like Rogers are so special because they can use different platforms and still be accurate. This far, Mahomes looks to be in that mold. But just as Rogers uses it that ability when he has to, he's still a very good pocket passer and has good footwork and a good base. Mahomes needs to keep working it. Muscle memory

hey guys , 95% of us do not fully understand NFL footwork, so I guess we better shut this conversation down

I mean we may as not even talk about the QB position since 95% of us have never played NFL QB

why bother talking about anything maybe we should all wait for 'reerun the expert' to chime in because he is a trained footwork expert and an elite 5%er who is qualified to even discuss this matter

The kid's release is very similar to Warren Moon's which it's all wrist snap and the secular opinion is Aaron Rodgers

I didn't need to see preseason or study film to know I don't want to see him on the field this year. And it's not even because I don't think he could do okay. I just want him to have the best chance to both study/learn the scheme (and that of NFL defenses...) and work on his technique. That (especially the latter...) will be next to impossible to do if his focus has to be on game prep. I don't believe time on the field this year would be as productive long term, and it might even be detrimental in the end.
