Indians are still the best team in our division and will only get stronger if they add Britton. They were always going to win this Division.

That being said, we play our best and stick with them most of second half, we'll easily end up Wildcard #1 and get to host that at Kauffman. Win that and a division series with the Astros. I actually wouldn't mind that matchup. I think we could beat em in a 5 game series.

The joke amongst the informed Cardinals fans during the trade deadline when discussing possible trades is always "I dunno...who do the Indians want to get rid of?"

So of course Mozeliak is circling back to the Indians. He may shop a guy, but when it comes down to time to pull the trigger, the Indians are his woobie; they're the nice warm blanked he turns to whenever he can't make a decision.

6 trades in 9 years.

Sadly, Cleveland got the guy I wanted way back when we hired Mozeliak. Antonetti refused to take the job if he couldn't structure his own scouting department. DeWitt hired the GM with the manager (LaRussa) and director of scouting (Luhnow) locked into place.

So when the GM is clearly being brought in to watch over a ship someone else built, it's a tough sell. The organizational man was the only real alternative at that point.

So of course we let the wrong guy go (Luhnow) and retained a guy in Mozeliak that only got the job because he was willing to be a bit player. And now his tendencies towards risk-aversion and small-scale thinking are more obvious than ever.
