I agree. He will start Peer Group in 2017 which is like 1/2 day of pre-school at the public school. And with that my current Sitter will make sure he gets on the bus and gets home safely even if she has to go get him. The Montesorri school won't do that until they are 5 and in doing a full day of school.

1) Maria Montessori was a socialist and invented her schooling in line with those ideas. Not a big deal, but I know how you feel about socialism. lol
2) There are "certified" Montessori schools and ones that aren't. A "certified" one has to meet certain standards. Other ones can just call themselves Montessori without any sort of accredidation. Doesn't mean they're a bad school, but it's something to know. 3) Most kids around here who do Montessori then transfer into public in K are really bored in K. Kindergarten teachers have kids who don't know how to count to 10 or recie their ABCs. Most Montessori kids are READING by the time they enter kindergarten. Needless to say, the Kindergarten year is kind of wasted on them. Anyway, make the decision that's right for you.

WoW! Learn something new everyday. So I had to google for more. Despite, this the Fountainhead Institute has managed to giver her credit where it's due—that is her recognition of the individual. Personally, I've respected some of her educational approaches. I've seen great results with some kids but have also seen some in remediation with tutors getting repaired. |

In our preschool, the 2 year old classes had ten kids and two teachers. Our two year old loved her teacher soooooooo much that she'd often cry when my wife or I picked her up from school and at age three, she's still very close with her (all of the teachers are in the play area after their afternoon naps). My seven year old often requests her favorite teacher (who's since moved on from that school) from her 3 year old class to babysit. And as I mentioned, she's still very tight with her friends from preschool. As a bonus, there are so many parents that have their second child at the school with ours that every birthday party and school event is amazing. Great parents, great kids, lots of fun. My oldest hasn't bonded with the kids from her elementary school like those from preschool. It's a special time. |

Most pre-schools I've seen have way too many kids and not enough one on one interaction.
I used to ask kids at the two different ones I used if they would prefer staying home with mom or being there. Always, they picked mom. Found out when my kid was a teen she also hated going and I only used it part-time. No one loves your child the way you do. JMO. |

Pete, most kids usually catch up with their ed basics, such as reading, if taught with sound methods. They learn faster when a little older and can catch up to those who learned to read earlier.
