Who is the dumbest athlete you've ever heard?

I just got done listening to LeBetard do a segment with Devonta Freeman, and I'm left wondering if he could put two Legos together. He might not be the absolute dumbest, but he is in the Vince Young tier of dumbassery.

Who is in your Hall of Morons?

Ever catch the Fox postgame? Dude straight up mangles play by play on the highlights.

This past weekend, JB started recounting the playoff scenarios and he just threw his hands up and walked off set.

Yeah, Manley was pretty famous for that. While I don't think he'll ever be in the running for a MacArthur Grant, I wonder to what extent his illiteracy was a lack of intellect versus a lack of proper education. Apparently he went back as an adult and learned to read, and I suspect that learning to read makes you a whole lot smarter in the long run.

Neil Smith is a good candidate for this, but at the same time I don't think he even had the lowest Wonderlic of his first-round class. If I remember right he got a 4 and Bennie Blades got a 3, or some such thing. But again, is that intelligence or is that a complete lack of literacy? It's tough to disentangle the two, but the bad vocabularies of people like Neil Smith and Emmitt Smith and Shannon Sharpe could be less related to intelligence than to education and what they heard growing up.

Johnny Football seems like a good candidate, too. I don't know what his diction is like, and his apparent stupidity could have a different genesis in addiction, but his bad decisions don't all seem to be related to addiction.

Tough call.

Not really. I have a weird type of tribalism with those shows. I still miss the days of CBS and NBC having the exclusive contracts. Fox has always felt gimmicky to me.

When football used to be an All-Sunday religious experience for me I would watch ESPN Countdown leading up to the game, the Chiefs game, flip over to the late game, and then immediately switch to Prime Time.

I believe he has a learning disability or speech impediment or something.

My vote: He's probably not as simply stupid as some of these guys, but Ray Lewis is a dumb human who says lots of dumb human things.

Man, growing up Emmitt Smith was one of the biggest childhood heroes I had. Until I heard him speak in person for the first time. What a letdown when I discovered that this amazingly talented running back was a class A dope that sounded like he belonged in Fat Albert and the Gang.

Is it fair to call someone with a learning disability stupid?

I remember when one of the networks did a feature on Lewis during the middle of his playing career they asked him about his passion and he went back to a paper he wrote during his college career that inspired him.

The topic: lions. He wrote a college paper about ****ing lions.

Ray Lewis. **** that guy. He just says some weird ass religious shit in just about every segment on ESPN MNF after shows.

A couple weeks ago he was asked a question about mentoring rookies or some shit and his response was long-winded and drawn out and included the phrase "this too shall come to pass" or whatever the ****. It totally came from left field for me.

Ahhhhh. Herm.

Not quite as dumb, but if you look at it as a % of intelligence quotient of comparable peers, he's probably right down there. Definitely one of the dumbest humans to ever don a headset.
